I received my S900 this evening. Here are some unboxing pictures. I will post some build pictures later this evening along with some comparisons to the S1000.

Ed,

A couple of questions.

Could you measure the battery bay so I can understand the max width and height that can fit in there. I was planning to use a 2 battery setup but I am not sure if it will fit.

The props that are fitted, are these the same as fitted to the Evo?

Not to speak for Ed, but the props are DJI's 1552 model which were on the later S800 Evos and are standard on the S1000. I reviewed them and for the money they are an unbeatable 15" folding prop.

I just test fitted 2x6000mAh Turnegy 6S. They fit fine. I would say the the max size is 150mm long x 115mm wide x 70mm tall.

This a comparison of the S1000 and S900. The S1000 is 45cm tall vs the S900 at 41cm. The landing gear is 56cm vs 41.5cm. I have not weighed the S900 yet. I still have to install the electronics. I should have that tomorrow. Then time to set up the Lightbridge, the A2 and I am going to solder the connectors on a 10000mAh lipo that I have.

It would be interesting to see a few more detailed pictures of the S900 V S1000, it seams the S900 has plastic boom holders, why else is different

would love to know your weight without lipo when you have all of your electronics on it, also folded dimensions.. trying to find a way to fly a GH4 sub 7kg but I think the only way is to run a 8300mah lipo.. not sure that'd even get it off the ground let alone fly it for very long :(

The motor mounts are also the same composite. Let me know exactly what you would like to see and I will photograph it.

+1.

Do you fancy weighing your setup when you are done Mr Ed? :nevreness:

Absolutely! I know that it is important to you guys.
tikigod19: I don't think that will be possible. You will have a better idea when I finish the build. The Zen for BMPCC with camera and lens is about 4 pounds. I am pretty sure that the GH4 is heavier.

Build notes:

- Inorder to mount the gimbal I had to move the front support bar back 10mm. Even with that it is a tight fit. I would like to see the rails a little longer but that is a quick fix.
- To balance the craft I had to move the lipos forward about 60mm. I am going to move the lipo plate mounts so the batteries can be centered on the plate. It makes for a very compact installation.
- Be very careful when installing the cover over the esc leads. I nicked one lead in doing so. A little liquid tape took care of that. It is tight.
- I like the removable center plate. The mounting of the electronics should be very straight forward. I have ordered a second set of Lightbridge antenna extenders and paddle antenna mounts for the retracts.

I will be mounting the electronics today and creating a charging lead.

Long time no speak tikigod19! I'm also waiting with bated breath about the weight. I'm not bothered about the ground station, so that's something to come off, but keeping it to below 7K would be awesome.

I'm interested in how it's different to the S1000 mainly.

With the composite fittings is there any flex in the arms?

Same interest here. The power distribution looks to be a clear improvement over the S1000. But, the arms look a little more "cost effective". Any play or flex in those mounts on the CF arm tubes?
