Please help : Sony NEX-7 and Zenmuse do not fit together

Hello !

I have a Zenmuse and a Sony NEX-5.
They work together very well.

Now I got a Sony NEX-7 for the Zenmuse.
They do not fit together :

- The NEX-7 is flat at the bottom and does not fit into the plastic where the screw goes trough because the plastic is not flat !
With the SONY NEX-5 it was no problem because the NEX-5 is also not flat at the bottom.
- Also the HDMI cable is not long enough for the NEX-7 because the HDMI connector is on a different place than the NEX-5.

I am totally frustrated because on the DJI homepage they say that the zenmus is for the SONY NEX-5 or NEX-7

Please help me !!!

I think you have to order it for the 7, and I believe there is a kit you can get to convert it, or you can send it in to be retrofitted. Call your dealer.

There is also a different kit for the Pany.

The CG is really critical for the Zen so it is affected even by adding a filter. I had to rebalance my Zen when using ND/UV filter. DJI does not want you to do this yourself it is in their WIKI:

"No adjusting or amending is allowed to Z15!!!

  • Z15 is specialized for Camera and Lens before it leaves the factory. Please mount your camera to Z15 when get it. No adjusting or amending is allowed to Z15. Do not modify or add any other component/device (such as filter, lens hood, etc.) to the camera; make sure to use the original battery; otherwise it may ends up with worse performance or even internal malfunction.
  • Z15 can only work with Autopilot system specified by DJI Innovations (Ace One/ Ace WayPoint/ WooKong M), so as to ensure the highest stability and precision.
  • Please download the corresponding assistant software and upgrade the autopilot system MC firmware, otherwise may lead the Z15 work abnormally.
  • DJI Innovations assumes no liability for damage(s) or injuries incurred directly or indirectly from the use of this product."

Yep your right.... You should be able to purchase the nex7 fitting kit... But you would have to rebalance the gimbal... OR send it back for re calibration.

You should have NEX7 kit in the box of Z15. You maybe not need a hdmi adapter. It can fit for Nex7.

Thank you very much !
I found the adapter.
But the HDMI cable is not as long as yours.
Just 1 cm too short.
I cannot connect it.
So I would need a 90 degree mini HDMI to mini HDMI adapter.
I could not find such a thing in the internet.
Perhaps somebody can help me.

Here you go: http://www.amazon.de/Purelink-HA0002-5-Basic-HDMI-Winkeladapter/dp/B000UO6MVW/ref=pd_cp_ce_0

You will have all the parts in your parts that came with the z15.
You need the flat bottom plate, the little spacer block for the top mount of the lens-ring.

Did get a message form DJI on RCgrups in January where I were told to do the re-calibrate my self for another lens and the nex 7. Also got the the link for the same video.

So that they are saying in wiki not to change anything on the zen is maybe right, but if you know how to work with MRs then they say. "do it yourself" lol.

Sorry but this is a HDMI and not a mini HDMI adapter !
Zenmus has a mini HDMI connector !

With the help of you all I was able to make the adaptions.
Now everything is ok with the NEX-7.

The cable is long enough.
The holder is ok.

Please can someone point me to the contents of the z15 nex5n so I can see what the converter or connector to nex7 looks like? I have just purchased a used zenmuse nex5n (still in post) and will be needing to recalibrate convert for use with a nex 7. Is there a YouTube video showing how this is done? Not the calibration bit but the conversion from nex5n to nex7 step by step.

thanks in advance

If it was me ,i would buy a nex 5 and be done with it, the zenmuse works like magic when it's with the camera it's designed for,

Easy? You call that easy?
I think the NEX 5 and 7 both fit on the same Zenmuse model. It should come with the needed parts.

If I was you I would just wait until you receive it. There's all the advice you need on the DJI wiki pages and in the manual.

The z15n comes with two mounts, one for Nex 5N and one that fits the. Nex 6 and 7, the later can also be modified for the a6000 with a bit of filing .. DJIa will not supply the mount separately for some reason..
