Planning to put together a multirotor with full HD video and FPV.
Any help will be appreciated...

Hello

If I would phrase your question in business terms, it would sound like: Hello, I want to start a business....should I start with trading or manufacturing ....? :tennis:

Most important thing is to find out what exactly your goal is....the span is from flying for fun (FPV) and recording your flights, up to being a professional and shooting aerial footage for a living.....in between are about 1.000.000 different possibilities. It also depends on your level of knowledge and how far you want to go, how much time (and money) you are willing to invest, how quickly you can get into the (sometimes complicated) technology behind all these wonderful videos on YouTube and Vimeo....

If you have no background at all, start to break up the whole thing into little portions: Flight Controls, Remote Control Radios, frames, motors, ESC's, FPV gear, video transmission, battery technology......just get some basic knowledge in these fields - widely avalible on this great forum and on the internet. This will keep you busy for a couple of weeks and will give you a basic idea of what you are dealing with.....

.....or you buy one of the Ready-To-Fly packages and keep on crashing the damn thing without a clue WHY it crashes (missing knowledge) and most propably hurt yourself and other people.....the choice is all yours.

This should get you started:

Good luck

Thanks a bunch!

Ok I`m a 100% newbie and I just bumped into the whole concept of multicopters on monday :nevreness:

I`m completely overwhelmed and taken by the idea of building one, flying it, beeing able to use FPV and recording full HD video.
Been reading a bit about the KV value of motors and also watched a few basic tutorials. Right now I think the Turnigy Talon, either quad or hexcopter frame is most appealing to my eye.

And definetly this would be a hobby to me... I recon I could use something between 900-1300$

Thanks for your fast reply!

OK, since you are a "vigin", I would try to get this:

http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/BLH7500

or this:

http://www.helipal.com/walkera-qr-ladybird-lite-2-4ghz-green-edition.html

They are dirt cheap, can fly inside and outside, almost unbreakable and spare parts are widely avalible. Just make sure they come RTF (ready to fly) and with a remote control....with the remore control check out if it is Mode1 or Mode2....http://multicopterworld.com/2011/01/mode-1-vs-mode-2-rc-transmitter/ Mode1 is widely used in the US while Mode2 is common in Europe....

These little copters give you a feeling of how to keep it in the air and develop the skills for a bigger bird later on.....and keep you happy while you read millions of pages on forums. Later on I would look at the DJI F450 , F550 or the Phantom:

http://www.dji-innovations.com/

Lots of people are using them, so you can get a lot of support (believe me, you will need it).....

Turnigy Talon is a little bit of exotic, so not too much support there....

Hello partycrasher,

I've been flying rc planes since i was 10 years old, then full size sailplanes my youth, and now couple of years a lot of flying with at least 10 different build multicopters, and i still feel it's necessary to training my flying skills with Ladybird etc toy. What comes to frame, turnigy talon is ok but there is not much space for electronics, i would go for something else. For that price range there's huge amount of options, but they all are more or less toyish. But also the frame is not at all the most important part of your build.

Best,

Kari

Kiitos Kari(Thanks Kari[finnish])

The Phantom looks quite cool& "easy" to fly... could it carry a gopro hero3 + fpv cam/transmitter?
Or could I get the easily calibrated gps& compass, in other words the navigation or auto pilot system to a F550?

This is such cool, nice stuff! :dejection::)

Flew reckless over a forest on a windy day 3.5.2013 with my Phantom... After a few minutes I could not see it anymore :dejection:Went into panic... Neither the homelock nor the fail safe brought it home :dejection:
Searched for hours and hours, put up notes with a picture of it and my phone number in the neighborhood. Of course the Gopro hero3 black went with it too:livid:
Got it back after a week :tennis:
Lesson learned.

The only lesson I'd take away from that experience is you need to get a BIGGER ship. One so big you'd never lose sight of it again!
welcome to the MRF.
