Ouch!

Just read a thread this morning on RCG about MR injuries.Then later thought i`d fly a couple of packs indoors after work,just to do a bit of fine tuning.
Brought the quad in to land on a table,unfortunately it started to scutter off ,and was heading for a hard concrete floor.Instinctively I reached out to grab it,the props were still spinning slowly resulting in this:

Not as bad as some,but it sliced through my finger nail.Fortunately for you guys ,I grimaced through the pain to take a picture for you as a reminder how easy it is to have an accident.

Mate, that's nasty! I caught my finger 2 days ago and that was VERY sore, but it didn't break the skin luckily!

sorry to see your injury and thanks for thinking of us! the only damage i'm recovering from has been to my checkbook! no pictures necessary!

I look at a multi with spinning props the same way I do a hot soldering iron, never try to catch one and stop it from falling, just let it go and clean up the mess afterward it will hurt a lot less.

Dang...... is that your throttle finger :cold: did you fly any more after that? I was at a control line combat contest when I was 16 and a prop cut my finger when I was starting for a guy in a match at the U.S nationals.
Prop went right through my starting glove. My dad asked me if I wanted to go get stitches I told
him no that would mean no flying in the finals for me. So we put the super glue to the cut and
wasn't really that bad until he hit it with spray kicker! :upset::black_eyed::dejection: I did
manage to go and get 3rd place.
Really gotta becareful with these machines and your post is a good reminder for that. ITs easy to not think about how dangerous these things can be since they are electric and have small motors.

I know I should have let it fall,it was an instinctive grab :black_eyed:
Yes I stuck a plaster on and flew another pack,fortunately my nail took most of the impact and saved my flesh.God help anyone who catches an artery or an eyeball.I`m sure we`ve all seen videos of people catching their quads ,and flying close to eye level.And we know things can go wrong.

What happened to Jake Bullit is good readon that we can never take our eyes off the ball when 'flying' regardless of what stage in proficiency we are at. Last week-end I had reason to change a battery (3S 3700mah) deans connector with keyed bullet connectors. My plan was to remove the existing deans coonector, solder on the new bullit connectors and then shrink tube the connector prior to sliding both +ve and -ve leads into a pre-cut length of braided tube. Guess what...both pieces of shrink tube simultaneously came off their bullet connectors as the leads were being pushed into the braided tube. In my obvious need to quickly remove the braided tube I made the situation worse as the braid 'tightened' up around the leads. The massive move of electrons from one plate to another due to the occuring short circuit heated up and swelled the battery and in turn bursting with a large explosion that produced a fair amount of smoke all in around 3-4 seconds. Fortunately for me I was in a position where I could throw this mess that I created into a nearby deep sink and nobody was hurt at all...but it could have been so different.
