Aeronavics / Droidworx New XM X4 Build

baja-king

Here for the ride :)
I have just ordered an XM8 in the Aeronavics festive sale... :)

I'm going to set up as an X4 (X8) This is going to be my test rig, not planning to put a camera on it just test FC firmware etc and have some fum without risking my SkyJib

Thinking about T-Motor MN3510-25 360KV with Xoar 14.5" Props, already have a spare WK-m

Anybody got any advice on ESC's... don't intend spending a €1200 on a Herk just for a test rig so going to go down the Hobbywing type route - something like these: http://www.electriflite.co.uk/store...rollers-and-escs/20-to-40-amp/hw-p30opto.html

Going to use the Gryphon Octocopter Power Distribution Board GPD-1000CTP

As usual I'll be posting build pics and stuff

Thanks in advance

Steve

So with a bit of digging around it looks like Hobbyking Turnigy Plush are a favoured choice of some...

Not bad @ $22 a pop

I guess I would flash them with BLHeli Firmware...

Was going to say would the 30A ones be good enough, I have the HobbyWing 40A optos on my Skyjib.
You could probably answer that question even more as you already have the Herkules Telemetry, does that tell you how many amps each motor is pulling, if so do you mind sharing?

I think 30A would be fine - have ordered the Plush 40A's, wanted to have extra headroom to spare - worked out at £13 each with discount :)

As to the motor amps... My SkyJib's all up weight is 9.6kg and each motor pulls approx 9 amps in the hover and 21 amps at full throttle on a punch out.

Have just ordered 9 more T-Motor 3515 KV400's (1 spare) thought about the MN3510-25 360KV because of the weight saving but the 300w is a limitation beyond 14" props

+ I can't fault the 3515's so far and it means that my test bed will have the same motor/prop size as my SkyJib

Christmas came early...

Already flashed the Plush 40A's with BLheli firmware and re-heat shrinked them... needed to tweak the startup power settings in the BLheli GUI to get a smooth start on the 3515's - now running smooth as silk :)

Thanks for sharing, theres a lot to learn seeing these threads.
Nice little use there of the cable tie stickers, and see you like the 3515 motors.
