Just built my first 250 fpv. I have a flysky FS T6 which works great for my line of sight flight.
I did a ground range test and got to about 600 meters before my quad shut down.

there was a power line running along the road, fairly flat road and had open line of sight from radio to rx.

I'm not planning on flying far for now but should I be worried about this?

I will be upgrading soon but don't want to blow the cash right away.

Also can I get some advice on what to buy as an upgrade? I see a lot of FRSKY 9ch, and would like to be able to change the module in the radio one day too.

thanks for any replys

The power line "shouldn't" be a problem but you never know. It may affect your FPV. The frsky Taranis is a great radio, very popular, lots of instructional videos on youtube. Probably the best radio for the money.

Yup, agreed. Go Taranis you'll never regret it.

It has range check, and RSSI as well for pc of mind. ((RSSI = Receivers Signal Strength Indicator) With X8R receivers your radio will give real time feedback on how strong your signal is at the copter.

600m is almost .4 miles and though some people will tell you you can go out a mile (1600m) or more on 2.4 GHz I have had 2 different helis loose radio connection at about 1/2 mile. Your ground testing will give conservative results in sense that aircraft should be a little more elevated than the way you tested resulting usually in longer range. Because of cameras etc on my quads I use UHF on them, and use 2.4 just on the helis ad LOS.
