smooth in high wind. Some people are dissapoint with HFP.
But I will try HFP+GPS for my next quad

What motors & props are you using?
Batteries?
What do you think your rig will carry?

I've been reading all night trying to find the advantage and safe weight capacity of flying a quad with 8 motors as opposed to a hex or octo? Could you give me a quick education?

that's awesome bart, shes really a smooth flier. Couldn't be happier with the results.

I always fly in wind, and no doubt, theres a few bumps here and there, but that's what they do. This thing is taking me further than anybody can imagine

It is going to take an aray of gopros over the Ronald Reagan Library thursday, legaly. or as that goes, for the city and it's there deal. It'll be doing it FPV, huge stretch before and after, some from a zephyr

this is one of those places that getting a good shot of the front is impossible without a whatchamacalit

I can't thank you and my other sponsors enough for believing in me

this is leopard 2814 770kv motors, xoar pja props, 12x5 and 12x7. I fly 4000-5300 4s packs parralel 2-4 packs. Haven't weighed it yet rtf, but will soon. I'm sure it'll run around half decent with a dslr, but with a nex5 it'll still rock. it does 50mph and 120 amp draws, has long range fpv gear so long stretches of high risk is it's specialty in my fleet. I seem to cut it around 6 minutes on 6000mah burned doing 40mph. Hovering it goes on forever at around 45-50 amp draw. It reminds me of a giant disco that carries alot of weight like it's not there. Bart would have some more manufacturer specs and reason but as a flyer, shes a pretty sweet rig that always deploys nice and smooth even when i'm all freaked out that it's too windy to do a flight

+1 It's an awesome beast that Kloner is pretty adept at taking pretty close to the waves out here in Socal. If I ever go bigger, it will be a xy8 of some sort.

Kloner: Sounds like you are running 2 and sometimes 4 batteries?

Did you use this rig on the footage that was shown for the golf tournament at Torrey Pines?

I just rewatched your first posted video in this thread. Watched to the end this time. Holding the frame it looks bigger than what I first thought. Engine to engine looks like bigger than 650mm but smaller than 950mm. Do you know what the wing span is engine to engine?

Not sure if I'm not paying attention or just overwhelmed trying to learn about what is what in multicopters, but just realized that the frame you are using is from Bartman. I found his thread from last week and now know it's one of his prototype frames. It looked similar to one I'd seen a month back or so and didn't pay much attention as I wasn't looking at quads at the time.

It appears that the main difference (besides layout of the center piece) is mainly the arms are not equally spaced. Wonder if this is a stability or speed consideration.

I assume that the links put up on this thread is raw video from you camera without any software stabilization?

Everytime I think I know what I might want to build for my first (and most likely only multicopter) I find another interesting variation. Having a bunch of cameras is probably working against me right now as one size doesn't seem to fit all unless you go big. But, I'm slowly getting there.

Thanks again for the info, I very much appreciate the help and look forward to seeing more of your footage.

hi Jfro. the frame is set up to hold up to four batteries but it depends on what else you're attaching and what motors are used. there haven't been any issues with stability using Mikrokopter, Hoverfly, DJI, and KK2 flight controllers.

Wow, it's as smooth as glass. What flight controller is this? Was this done in GPS hold or what? Looks great brotha....

jfro, yes 2-4 packs. mostly 2 cause i'm just not into flying long periods with it

The xy8 was used in that torrey cliff video, it also flew some b footage for cbs later that day over a hole out along the cliff, it aired sunday

It is 740cm

I fly this thing from slo fly to 50mph for sustained periods of time and shes like a honey badger,,,,

I do use post stab but barely. it has a scale of 0-100, i always use 5 just to soften any wobble. That is a tilt only gimbal flying into wind, the horizon is all on the crafts performance/stability. Can't wait to get the av200 dialed in, shes gonna make some fun footage. it's all ezuhf, 2.4 video, it's an long range fpv camera ship

hello, it is a hoverfly pro flown in manual mode......... it's a handful and stressful, but the footage works for me

this is raw no post stab and still a little tight on the bushing side. i was trying to figure out what the bobble was, it seems like it's turbulence especialy when it's on the deck in the waves
