Motor Selection

Hi All

I am a newbie to multi rotors. I have been doing plenty of research on different frames, auto pilot systems, RC controllers, batteries etc. One major part I am lacking knowledge and information on is Motor selection. I understand the basics as far as more power equals more current bigger ESC controllers etc. There would have to be a balance between prop size and motor size for maximum efficient lift and fly time. Also there are a big selection of brands what should I stay away from and what is better (I wont use the word perfect :tennis:)

My current plan is to build a DJI or RC Timer F550... thinking about getting the RC timer extension arms (the RCT800 arms).

As far as payload I am looking to carry a GoPro on the aeroxcraft landing gear / gimbal setup, along with a Wookong M and video link. (budgets approvals).

If this has been covered already in another thread please point me in the right direction.

Many answers to your questions here: http://www.multirotorforums.com/showthread.php?10092-My-F800-quot-Finger-Snapper-quot

If you don't already have the Aeroxcraft gear/gimbal you might want to consider the clone S800 landing gear also sold by RCTimer....
http://www.rctimer.com/index.php?gOo=goods_details.dwt&goodsid=842&productname=
The price is good and you are not using the very heavy G10/G11 materials that most gear/gimbal systems use extensively. Some modifications are required however.
See above thread/links......for additional info...... beware that additional mounting holes might be required depending upon your motor selection.......
Sometimes better to drill required holes for best fit-for-purpose motors.
