Looks like a good idea especially for colder winter flying, i.e., below -5 or -10 deg C. as component heat remains inside the shell. Hot summer might have it's limits.

Not to hijack this thread but since we are discussing domes and cold winters, we just introduced these for both the F450 and F550s.

shipped from cold Canada :)

It looks really good, I like the idea. Not to be disrespectful to your product, but I'm not sure I would try one at that price (plus shipping) though. It really doesn't seem in-line (price wise) with the rest of the components of the F550. Does it have any features to hold the GPS unit?

Thanks for sharing it.

No offense taken Tony (about price). The photos do not do the HubCap justice in that there is a small lip all the way around to hold the dome in place. It is made of very good quality mylar which is strong enough to maintain shape even when depressed with your fingers. It will certainly not fly off during flight. They can be painted or glued.

As for the GPS, we will be providing detailed instructions on how to mount them by passing the stem through the dome so that it sits above. Not to bash the design at the top, but the GPS really needs to be capable of moving/adjustment since the compass will not always face exactly forward (depends on geographical location).

More info to come. check our site end of this week for an update.

BTW, we ship for free within Canada on orders above $50 and in the USA on orders above $150 so if you bundle the dome with another purchase, no charge on shipping :)

cheers,

Yves
