Looking to buy my first Quad/Hex

Hey everyone I'm new to the forums, I'm from Florida and have some great year round weather for flying ! I have been flying Helicopters for about 2 years now and looking to purchase my first quad. I plan on rigging up a Go Pro and gimbal right out of the gate. I'm going to be doing some aerial video and Photography so I have a few questions.

1.) Is a quad more stable for video.photos than a hex? ( remember I'm not looking for an aerobatic machine, I have my TREX 550e v2 3GX for that :D )

2.) Can you recommend a good first quad that can do what I'm looking to do? ( I am only looking at a budget of around $2,000 USD. which needs to buy the frame, motors,ESC's, Battery and Flight controller. I already have a DX8 w/AR8000 rx so those will not be purchased)

3.) Is it better to buy a RTF kit over one you build?

4.) Can you recommend a good video editing software?

5.) Which cams produce the least amount of jello while holding onto a good quality video/picture ? (the camera is not included in my $2,000 budget. I have alocated a $1000 budget for camera alone)

I am starting up a business and will ultimately be taking photos and video for it, however I don't have the budget for a $10,000 quad at the moment, So I'm just looking for a good setup that will get the job done and have good quality Photos and video's.

A hex is more stable than a quad for AP ,but if you just plan to use a Gopro a quad will do that fine if you want to go to something better like a Sony Nex, GH2 or Canon Ti I would go with a hex. I bought a cheap kit for my first quad (it was my training wheels), then for my second craft I bought a kit for a hex and modified it. My Octo I'm going to build from scratch. For a flight controller you can spend as little as $25 or over $1000 depending on what your looking for. My first controller way a KK V5.5 and only cost about $30 ,but I wouldn''t use it for AP (that is just my opinion). On my hex I have a FC that cost about $100 that I'm very happy with and it have all the bells and whistles except GPS, but that can be added. Editing software you can get something inexpense like Avid studio for a little over $100 that will do basic editting and is fairly easy to use. If you want reall good software get something like Adobe Premier or on a Mac Final cut Pro, but they are expense and have a very steep learning curve.

Yeah im pretty good on sony vegas, I was just under the impression there was a certain type of software that people use to eliminate the "jello" and wiggles from video. I didn't know all software could do that ?

Check out AerialMediaPros.com (Under the Store section). Then give me a call at 888-557-6791. I will answer your questions, and go over some options with you.

Take care, Patrick

Ya' beat me to it.

We're currently having the "noob" RTF version of a DJI f550 Hex (w/Naza flight controller) assembled from AerialMediaPros.com.

The purpose was to get into the hobby with quality working set-up for the nephew and I.
-FPV flying and some GoPro2 HD capture.
I'll post a review most likely a month after opening the combo package.
We selected the JR 9503, 9ch.Tx to control the hex.

If all goes well, we may purchase a second RTF kit to help each other gain similar knowledge on the "build".
lol, no more presents until he graduates high school a few years from now!

We are very new to all the various options out there.
Long term matching components working in harmony was a main goal besides years of fun flying.

-keep an eye out for the colorful review.
