For what it's worth everyone, I'd like to say that I'm very proud of our membership. I've been watching the discussions on the FAA's actions, and in some cases participating, and I'm proud of the standards we represent here. You are a very responsible bunch of people and we've had very few instances where irresponsible actions have been posted and then supported by anyone in our membership. It's nice to know that while we do the things that are being considered for regulation, we do them in a way where we are as responsible and safe as we can be.

I don't know if anyone is watching what we say and do here but I hope that when people do come through that they consider us an example of how to correctly do the multi-rotor helicopter thing, whether it's for hobby or professional use.

As a new member Bart, this forum has been a tremendous resource and in an industry that is on the cutting edge, it is nice to hear opinions and thoughts from folks that have so much knowledge and insight. Thank you for making the forum possible.

I joined this forum not very long ago because I have a desire to learn. I don't know anywhere near enough about multirotors and their associated products and technology but I have learned a lot from those in this forum with the hands on experience. I just hope I've been able to give something back in areas I am knowledgeable in.

I joined this forum about a month ago (after lurking for several months before that). To coin a phrase we use here in Spain all the time, this forum es la puta madre. That basically translates to f**king awesome! I've learned so much here reading through as many threads as possible before starting my first build (still haven't started yet) and find the quality of the regulars here outstanding.

Just went through the FAA thread and was somewhat dumbstruck at what's going on. As an ex-pilot I can't imagine following an ILS approach through the clouds only to have my windscreen smashed by a UAV. I hit a (small) bird once and saw what it did to the cowling of my 172. Can't imagine what a 6KG hexacopter carrying full camera gear plus an unstable LiPo would do, especially at jet approach speeds. And god help all on board if one of these beasts gets ingested into a turbine engine. Just my $0.02 worth but I definitely do NOT want to see restrictions thrown onto this hobby.

^ That's all interesting to hear. I've heard a lot of irresponsible phantom type pilots say a jet engine would ingest their quad 'no problem'!

Me thinks the phrase "Phantom pilots" is a misnomer. More like clueless (but also probably very capable in their field) photographers just happening to operate RC vehicles. I'm no "pro" (RC pilot) in any sense of the word...I hardly know what I'm doing. But I DO know what happens with jet engines and foreign object intake (aka FOD). If I had to choose a very large goose or a phantom to suck in, please guess what my choice is.:dread:

It's thanks to this forum and it's support that I got flying in the first place. I have never been to a model shop and have not until recently known anyone else who flies RC. The resources on this forum have turned my hobby into a profession that I make a damn good living from.
