Horizon AP - A highly experienced team providing remote aerial services

Hi all, we're Horizon Ap (Horizon Aerial Photography Ltd). We're a small team with over 5 years experience. We're based in th UK and travel worldwide provding aerial services, particularly video.

All the systems we use are built in-house. This means that we can adapt quickly to suit specific shoot requirements, and keep our systems flying and safe at all times.

We hold a full CAA permission for aerial operations along with all necessary qualifications and full insurance. Its also worth noting that we have a good relationship and understanding with the CAA that allows us to get ‘exemptions’ to operate outside of the normal constraints when needed, this can be anything from flying in built up areas (such as central London), to flying at night or above 400ft.

Hi Jack

I just seen one of your latest shoots with Den Lennie for Sony, nice shots.
If you don't mind me asking how did you find shooting with the 7S, also noticed you used a Besteady, what are your thoughts on that now?
I had a besteady when it first came out, but it did not get in the air as it did not work too well with the first firmware.

Hi Quinton

Thanks - it was great to be involved with! Really liked the A7s - for its size and weight the full frame, full sensor read out really does give a great 1080 image that can match up with the likes of F55 on a full production. 4K should be feasible too once some smaller 4k recorders come out. Its a shame it doesn't do internal 4K like the GH4 (but to be fair that's only 4:2:0 8bit) or high frame rates (limited to 30p I think). But hey-ho you cant have it all! yet...

A few more thoughts on the A7S here

Really liking the BeSteady for the most part, its not quite as pick and up and go as the Zenmuse, it takes a bit of tuning and does loose horizon a bit (but so does the Zen), but its nice to have a lightweight gimbal that is flexible with cameras/lenses etc! I think the new firmware should be much better, just downloading it now.
