Higher Voltage drop with parallel batteries

Yesterday I used a parallel battery set up for the first time. I noticed that the voltage drop is larger with two batteries. I normally land at about 3.6/3.5v and have about 3.7/3.8v left. With the parallel battery setup I landed at about 3.6v and when I landed it jumped upto about 3.85/3.92v. I find it strange. I thought that it would have been the opposite, a lower voltsge drop due the the second battery taking 50% of the supply current.

Any thoughts?

Why would that make a difference??? There should be LESS strain on each battery now, not more.
