Hi there, names Gordon , living down in Helston, Cornwall, UK and recently was gifted to me for xmas a Quadcopter. Ive been involved in RC Petrol Car racing for a number of years and also cover the photography and filming of our races, useing static DSLR Cameras, and also GO Pro's attached to my car and at various points around the track. After a late night conversation to father, yes after an aperitif or two had been consumed, I came up with the idea of haveing a quadcopter that would support the Go Pro and that I could set to auto hover and also get moving footage of the races from above.
Low and behold a big box arrived for Xmas from parents, Dad had seen a few on ebay and had contacted one chap who seemed to assemble kits and ship them ready to fly.
I dont have a name for it , but looking at images on google, its exactly like the DJI F450. On dads invoice is the following:
450 Cruis AIO Pro GPS Quad,, f450 quadcopter with Crius All In One Pro Flight controler with GPS module
DSM2 receiver
24 LED lighting system
30Amp multirotor ESC's
1000Kv multirotor motors
8Inch props
integrated power distribution
Spektrum DX8 Transmitter
3S 2200mAh lipo, x 3
Advanced mains Accucel charger
Total price was £540 for the above.
Now on first flight things went a bit loopy , and discovered one ot the motors was reversed, so switched 2 connectors on it, and seemed to level it out ok , the left stick seemed super sensative so on the controller reduced sensativity. The GPS loiter and altitude hold seem to work ok within tolerances of about 1 or 2 meters, but return to launch sent it skyward and arcing off into the distance, killed throttle and let it plunge to ground. Only damage broken arm, again, same one i broke first time i tried to fly it. Ive found the F450 legs on ebay so thats not a problem, and have also put carbon fibre blades on it.
Couple of things to ask tho , main one being does the above seem a good kit to of bought? , and also useing the f450 chassis is there any kit or addon I can get that would say protect the arms, and or blades, for when i next crash. in my mind something like foam or extensions that extend out or down, im not sure. The last thing is the Go Pro, ok it wont be sometime till I put that on it, well , basically till i can at least fly the thing, but when I do master it , is there a frame or something that will take the go pro, doesnt need to be independently controlled, just securely mounted would be good start.
Any way enough prattling for now as im sure ive probably covered about 9 different threads in my one intro post, for which I apologise, but im feeling a bit fish out of water at the moment.
Any help suggestions or put downs gratefully received, lol.
Many thanks
Gordon
