Hello, Tom here,,,,

,,, branching out into Quad's and fpv.

I fly mostly heli's, but caught the bug after getting a 330x-s and a Foxtech system.
It became apparent early on that the 330x wasn't the airframe I really wanted, but I knew that up front. I just wanted it to try out as a test bed.

So, after months of research, I pulled the trigger on this;

RC Carbon 500 quad combo.

I already have an FY91q navigation combo, and a Futaba t8fg.

What I really need now is advise on what motors and esc's to get for her. Would prefer motors that are dynamically balanced.
Any suggestions?

@ Tomstoy2.. welcome to MRF. I am not familiar with the FY Fc's but I am sure there will be someone on here that is..

As for motors AXI, TorxPower, Tiger, Emax etc. I use AXI, TorxPower and Emax and have had no problems with any of them. All depends on budget I suppose.. I have used the HobbyWing esc's on my WMK FC and my coptercontrol board, cheap as chips and do the job.. just make sure you get them all from the same batch they changed the chip sometime in august sept so best to get all the same batch..

Where in the worlds are you

Hi Droider!
I live in Colorado, north of Denver. Mostly damn fine flying weather.

I've been into rc flying for 35 years now, my how the times changed!

Gave up planes 3 years ago and started flying heli's.
The fleet consists of;
Avant 90n
Align 600efl pro
HC500
HDX 450
Align 250
mCPX
mSR
Mosquito
330x
and now the RC Carbon 500
all fbl, 7 different controllers ( programming is madness ).

It's starting to sink in now that the fleet is getting a little big. Seems my work bench is never empty!

I picked up the 330x a little over a month ago, fun little thing but too small for what I want to do, which is fpv.
I do a lot of fly-fishing and the thought came to me that this would be really cool to take along on those camping trips.
Now I'm hooked.

I don't want anything too large, but it did need to be stable.
I shopped around for a long time, re-defigned my objective several times, and settled in on the RC Carbon 500 frame combo package, ncludes landing gear and camera pan/tilt.

I'm pretty pleased so far with the fy91q nav system, though I really haven't played around with it that much yet.
The rth is wierd as in seeing the quad come back to origionation point without inputting the sticks! Worked good though.

I'm already considering longer booms when I do the build, push the motors out a little more. I'll see when it gets here.

Perfect weather today but this damn work thing keeps getting in the way.
