Is there any advantage of using a Graupner radio rather than a Spektrum radio for controlling a Mikrokopter?

Yes, the Graupner will tell you the telemetry data in a sexy female voice while you're flying, the Spektrum is mute ;)

I don't have a Graupner although I would like to for my MKs, there is a good integration between the radio and Mk flight controller for telemetry transfer and control of advanced functions if you watch the Holger videos where he goes through the features. An alternative is to use the Mission Cockpit software with an Xbee setup and have it give audio telemetry data through a ground station (laptop) running the software.

If you're not so concerned about realtime telemetry being spoken or displayed on the TX then either one will work fine, the Spektrum for a lot less $$$ than the Graupner. If you're primary use will be FPV you can get a lot of the data through an good OSD and see it on the screen.

Hello there,
I have a Graupner MX20 and I find it amazing ! I've been using SpektrumDX7s before, not bad at all, but with spektrum you'll need
a serializer... More electronics, more wires, different connections on the FC (I have 2 FC, ready for both...)
In my PERSONAL opinion, Graupner:10, Spektrum:7

Happy landings

The Graupner MX20 is ideal for any MK setup, the telemetry is a real boon and it has enough rotary control channels to allow full gimbal control.
The best telemetry functions are battery capacity and satellite count for GPS so you know when you're ready to go and when you really ought to come back down.
Well worth the extra expense.

Also the range seems much better with MX20. I own these radios and listing them in order I like most:

* Graupner MX20 HoTT
* DX8
* MX22 with Jeti module

I have a terrible range with MX22 /w Jeti Rsat2 reciever. After 250 meters, the reception is almost gone.

I have tried 750 meters with MX20 HoTT, there was no problem about the reception. And what I like most is the throttle stick with spring. you start using vario AH and it helps perfectl

Handling and menus are better on DX8 IMO. I'm using it for my small quads. For serios MK craft, MX20 is a must.

Thank you for your input. This is very interesting to know.

Why is the throttle stick with spring desireable?

I dont suppose that using a Graupner radio would be a problem if I wanted to also control a HoverflyPro, correct? The Graupner should be just as good in controlling the HFP as the Spektrum, right?

I have to agree with Ken...there's just something about a synthesized sexy female voice with a German accent that does something to me...!

Oh, this is nice! If wearing loose oversized pants over adult diapers isn't enough, now I would need to have a huge pocket in the front of the diaper to compensate for the voice!

Guess that scuppered my planned sale of my Hexa distro/FC/Nav/GPS and Mx22 Jeti Module! Thanks Ovdt ;-)

I have never had an issue with my MX22 but there again I fly within the rules of the K which is 400m from operator (line of sight)

Yes you can use it of course with any controller. You can remove the spring if you don't get used to it.

Throttle stick stays at the mid position all the time, which is great for vario altitude hold.

Droider, I think you have RMK2 satellite. I think it has better range than Rsat2.
