First day testing all works good!

I finished installing all the gear I have bought and so far it all seems to work as advertised. I took my quad down to the park and after a short flight 5 min. I decided FPV just doesn't work for me. I do enjoy LOS though and I will continue to do that instead. With all equipment installed my F450 weighs 3.5 pounds. I will just leave the stuff mounted as its too much work to remove it all. It seems to fly ok with it all in place. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeN0pONMOUw&feature=youtu.be

Life is a lesson. Money just helps you achieve some things along the way. Just curious what dont you like about FPV? I first got nausiated a lot but thats something that went away after a couple of flights.

Care to show us pics of your multicopter?

That answers some questions but what don't you like about FPV? just curious.
I guess the Fat Shark goggles made it hard for me to know where my quad was. I could see of clearly of course but only forward and this created a orientation problem for me. I guess it could get better with practice but I don't think I will use this FPV gear on my quad. I am thinking of getting a plane and UHF system to try out soon so maybe I will like it better on the plane instead of my F450. If the plane doesn't work out there is always my shelf in the closet, I have many expensive toys I bought to try out and when they don't work for me they end up on the shelf.

Were you flying low a lot? If you get decent altitude that shouldnt be a problem. You should also firmiliarise yourself with the area and visible landmarks so you know where you are when flying FPV.

There are pan tilt systems with headtracking that will allow you to look around, although only tilt systems are recommended for multicopters seeing as they can pivot.

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
goldsworthy,

two things,

first, it is very helpful when you're starting out FPV to have someone with you as your 'outside eyes" to let you know what's going on so you can focus on getting comfortable with the goggles. A buddy box is great as it allows you to relax and get settled in exploring what's around you via your FPV equipment. If you screw up he/she can take over and get the quad back to safety and you can try again.

second, regarding that shelf of yours, i'd like to help so please let me know how big of a postage paid box i should send for you to empty the shelf into and make more room for new stuff. :nevreness:

don't give up yet....it'll get fun once you relax and settle into the goggles experience. find someone to help you out.
