F550 Hex Arm airflow restriction

FLYS WELL BUT!!!

What is the consensus on using 3rd party MR arm extension such as those appearing in the photo below. There can be no airflow through the end of air attachment point. So I suspect there will be a significant loss of thrust on each arm due to the extra airflow restriction. I am guessing a 6 to 10% loss of thrust depending on the prop diameter. The photo shows 10' x 5pitch APC props. Motors were also upsized to handle heavier payload. View attachment 9375:dread:

Hi Peter, you will find that the last third of your blade from the tip does most of the work in lifting your craft, the other inner 2 thirds do very little. You are going to have losses any way everytime a blade passes over the DJI arm as these arms disrupt the air flow and cause turbulence. There is nothing very aerodynamic about a multirotor.
