F550 - BATTERY - Props

Hi All,
I'm just assembling a new F550. I've bought a Gens Ace 5000 4s battery and was wondering which propellor to use.
I've heard that the stock props are not that good, so was going to go for something of higher quality.
Would like know diam, pitch, manufacturer and supplier to match the battery of course, which seems quite heavy.
Motors are what came in the kit dji 920kv.
I'm in the UK, So, obviously uk Suppliers.

Thanks

Easy? You call that easy?
Hi hi. I have the same lipo (hardshell though) and an F550. I use 9" Graupners which are lovely. Have 8" and 10" too but 9" seem to have the characteristics I'm looking for.

They did need some filing to make them fit but you can file them so they have the notch in them to stop rotation.

Cool?

Hi,
Thanks for the info, my battery is a hard shell also. Any ideas where to buy the Graupners I have found this:-

Are they the ones you mention?
They state that they fit straight onto the dji motor, is that correct? I notice they only have one set in stock.

You will need 3 sets of these... and the direct fit means, it probably has been reamed out to 8mm shaft. You may need to buy some 8mm washers to space, as some of the standard DJI motors have a different length machined prop mount.

Hi hi,

The 8" and 10" were both a direct fit for me but needed washers. The 9" needed reaming out (I just filed them) but used the original DJI screws plus some rubber o-rings to create friction instead of thread-lock as I take my blades off for transport.

Hi,
So not a great fit, the dji motor shaft is actually 7.75mm, considerably smaller than 8mm. And of course if the prop has to be reemed out there is no flat for the drive, which seems
a bit risky for the ccw prop, relying thread lock etc. to stop it coming undone. Hmmm!
Benjamin, what size were the holes before you reemed them out.

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me where in the UK I can buy zinger 9x5 lefthand props. I found that my cnc machine will cut the hubs with both flats and recess to make a perfect fit to the dji shaft.
I fancy the wooden props, any comments on wooden props wood be appreciated.

Sorry, bit late. I can't remember the size, should be on the web somewhere. Only the 9" required reaming, I used a £1 file and it worked fine. Still using the same props 6 months down the line. No vibes from them so all good. The 8" and 10" were a direct fit.

Why do you fancy wood?

Are you planning to fly the F550 with or without a camera and gimbal? My stock aircraft is fitted with a SkyRover kit that includes the landing gear and gimbal. I've found that the 10" Graupners work very well once you punch out the center bushing. No need for washers, just snug up the hub tight. Did spend some time balancing them as I do photography and video from this rig. 5000 3S are my current power, may jump up to the 4S when I fit the NEX 5 on the mount.

Hi,
Why do I fancy wood? Just something I read on another forum. Every bit as good as the Graupners apparently, easy to balance, nice and stiff for precise flight. Look pretty cool as well.

Can't find any pushers in the UK unfortunately, still looking.

Yes, I'm planning on fitting a camera eventually, I'm a bit concerned with the battery being extremely heavy, although might be a good thing.
