Why is it other then DJI and maybe a few others that these companies making frames, do they not seem to concentrate on esc placements. I have not built 5 copters and other then (dare I say it) xaircraft and DJI (s800) all my copters I had to figure out where and how to place the ESC in a logical place. On most of the copter even the f550 my esc's have been placed on the copters booms. It seems to work but for simple things like traveling, or placing the copter. You always have a chance of banging them.
At the end of the day I know that ESC are all different sizes but to make it so that they can be placed in a good location on a frame where the power connection and motor leads are free of interfering or tangling with other wires. In the long run if you put a little thought into it and time to it in all my cases things have seemed to work out fine.
In am now in the new build with a fold-able frame and with the arms and leg compacting down, having a good spot already designated pre-thought about spot for the ESC's would be valuable.
