DJI F550 Flight Confusion

I have just rebuilt a used F550 with Naza M and GPS. I have a ton of questions if someone can help I would appreciate it. I was able to hover it just fine for a rookie. But here are my Questions... Take off what mode should you be in Atti mode? Once in a position you want to hold go from Atti to GPS? Being a rookie can you use IOC Mode from takeoff? If so Would it be home mode or course loc? Sorry for all the questions but I am strictly a beginner. is there a list of what the led light status? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

As for LED light status definitions, those are in the DJI Naza manual. I would recommend you familiarize yourself with those, and/or have a printout handy.

I typically take off in GPS mode, but have taken off in all three modes. The benefit of taking off in GPS is: a) you can verify GPS is working properly when it's hovering right after takeoff, b) uses Naza's new feature for Takeoff available in version 3.12.

I don't think I have ever taken off with IOC on, but that's just because I don't use those modes much, though they can come in handy. Also, Home Lock doesn't work when you are within 10 meters of your takeoff spot anyways.

Just a piece of advice, get yourself very, very proficient at IOC being off before getting too used to IOC modes. The same goes for Manual and Attitude modes. Even though I fly in GPS mode almost always, I have come to full agreement with the tons of people that state that any good pilot has to master all modes in case things go awry. I learned the hard way because my MR crashed in one of my first flights when the FC was stuck in Manual mode (I had the Tx configured incorrectly).

Any other questions, feel free to post, and we'll do our best to help.

Easy? You call that easy?
All good advice. I only use GPS mode to be honest. Don't take off in IOC mode , as above it only works 10m away and deactivates when you go within this radius.
