DIY Vibration Pads- Anyone made them from Silicone

I may be all wet on this idea but I was thinking.:) It seems vibration on electronics with quad copters is an issue. I have looked at all kinds of exotic materials online for dampening vibration such as Zeal tape etc. Most is very expensive for what you get.

I was thinking about buying a tube of silicone and squeezing a fair amount out on a piece of wax paper, then laying another piece of wax paper
On top of the silicone that I squeezed out. Putting this on a flat surface and laying a flat piece of steel on top of the top layer of wax paper.
Then compressing it all under pressure where you end up with a thin layer which would probably look like a thin pancake when dried. Then cut
Squares to fit under electronic components. I would think some thin two way tape stuck to the piece you cut out would bond your receiver or
Control boards to the plate. Silicone would act as a dampener.
Has anyone tried this? What are your thoughts and if you have anything to add to this, it would be great.

Accepting any constructive criticism as well...:)

Great demonstration Chris. Looks like a jar of MoonGel would be as cheep to buy off Ebay than a tube of Silcone. I would have no way of checking the silicone vibration to compare it to your testing. Thank you very much for posting your testing and results.
