Modified Droidworx/Aeronavics Octocopter with retractable landing gear, 3 axis DD brushless Gimbal, 5.8ghz downlink and 8.4inch LCD ground monitor with 10 Lipo batteries, completely built, set up and ready to fly. All you need to add is two transmitters (one for pilot and one for the cameraman) and a camera then you are ready to start filming. NOTE: Transmitters and camera are available at extra cost.

Professionally built using new top quality components this Octo has logged about 2 hours flying. The Octo and Gimbal are set up and rock steady with no visible vibration when the in flight.

Custom made fibrelam crash cage designed to allow good airflow over electronic components. After flight the ESC’s, batteries and motors are barely warm.

The 3 axis gimbal is very smooth and perfectly tuned for Sony NEX-5 series cameras. The speed control is nicely proportional to stick deflection and any stick jolt is not detectable on the recorded video. The pan motor is heavy duty and has a hollow shaft, it also has an ‘anti drop’ cage so in the event of a motor split the gimbal will not fall. A second 90° set screw has been added to the pan motor shaft. There is enough adjustment on the gimbal to use the Sony 18/55 lens if required. A custom made aluminium lens clamp holds the camera securely as well as the ¼ BSW tripod screw in the base. The gimbal is on a quick release mount. It has its own dedicated futaba receiver and is entirely powered by the main flight packs via a slip ring through the hollow shaft in the pan motor. Continuous 360° panning is possible. The roll motor has a hollow shaft too.
Movie start/stop and stills shutter can be operated whilst airborne and is controlled by a Gentled shutter-PLUS infrared controller. HDMI conversion is done by a tiny onboard device weighing 3.3g.
The gimbal has 3 modes selectable from the transmitter.

Designed in such a way to minimise the time it takes to change a motor, esc or flight electronics which is particularly beneficial in the field.
The electronics deck is fitted with the autopilot IMU and MC, iOSD, PMU and GPS antenna/ Compass. The deck can be quickly removed in the field if you have an electronics fault but do not have time to diagnose which component is at fault and replaced with another fully fitted and pre set-up deck.
NOTE: Only one electronics deck available.

The DJI autopilot offers full flight stabilisation, return to home and auto landing plus many other features.

The retractable landing gear is pneumatic and has ‘AIR’ up ‘SPRING’ down units so in the event of an airline failure the gear automatically comes down. There are two onboard Robart air reservoirs, a pressure gauge and filler nozzle. There is also a ‘quick release’ on the airline to allow easy removal of the reservoirs and crash cage for inspection/maintenance purposes. A pressure regulator is on-board to adjust the retract speed of the gear.

The MAUW with gimbal and a Sony NEX-5r camera fitted is 6.8kg. This puts you in the ‘Sub 7kg’ category for UK commercial operations. NOTE: The camera is NOT included but is available at additional cost.
