All Motors spin - Only 2 have Power

Hey Guys,

This one has kinda got me. I have an X quad that I built out of garage scrap parts. I know it flys because I had a Hoverfly pro (no GPS) on there.

-I know.... why switch....-

Its not for filming , its for fun and I need a GPS hold. I had a naza V1 w/GPS that was NIB.

-So, It flys with the Hoverfly.
-I install the Naza with 2.14. Have no issues in the assistant.
-All props spin correctly and motor config is good. (checked and double checked)

It flips on first attempt of flight (w/naza).
-ok, whats the deal?-

I repair broken prop, and try again. Only this time I was on grass and noticed that the grass under the back 2 props had no prop wash on the grass.
Confirming with my hand, I feel exactly what I saw.

The front 2 motors are putting out at least 2x the power as the back 2 motors.
I checked my props for spinning (loose nuts, etc.)and everything is good there as well.

Any leads on this would be great.

The end on the NAZA that has the ESC leads plugged into it is facing towards the front of the quad?

What esc's are you using? You may need to calibrate them all, unless they're dji opto's.

The Naza is facing proper direction. They are 30amp Plush that have been used on a WKM before.
Infact , thats what I ended up using. It worked just fine. I just would like to know why that issue happened with the Naza.

2 front motors have full power and the 2 rear motors have 1/2 (even less) power.

Sounds like it's compensating to the wrong direction.. Somehow.. Take the props off, increase power, turn the heli in your hands. Does it correct in the right direction? Have you double checked that the ESC wires are in the correct ports? Double check the motor installation diagram in the manual and compare to your helicopter.

Im sure it sounds like its the wrong direction. ITS NOT.
yes all esc's were triple checked for proper port.

I have installed enough Naza's to know that.
Double checking anything at this point is pointless,

I have used a WKM instead.

It could be the unit. I bought it here (RCG Clasifieds) NIB. (but that doesnt mean much).

When I do a new build I will use this unit and see if it had something to do with that quad.
Ill keep ya posted...

Well sounds to me like you know what your doing. But snapping at people trying to help you won't get you any help... I am sitting out of this one.... good luck sorting it out.

No snapping there...
I mearly put that in caps to re-assure that I had correct direction of unit. I inserted "smile" to let know I was not trying to be angry.
- and its obvious I dont know what I am doing, or I wouldnt be here, asking....
I have no reason to be rude or act above. (gets you no-where)

It could have been many things causing these symptoms. But it still remains, that I will not be able to resolve my issue until another build.

Caps in the big bad world of the internet is generally regarded as shouting, always has and always will.... but now your intentions are clear, lets see if we can work on your issue if you have not yet got it figured out.

The reason people are asking if you have the unit mounted in the right direction is simple, the behavior you are explaining is similar to the unit being mounted backwards. Now it is apparent you know the direction is correct, so the next thing I would question is the connections to the ESC's. Here is a direction for the motors and I will try my best to verify your connections are right.

Looking from behind the quad, M1 is always on the right. It is connected to M1, M2 goes to M2 and so forth.

Check the direction of the motors and make sure your props are on the correct motors turning as they should, I.E. with the leading edge of the prop higher and cutting into the air.

Wiring is a common mistake, CG is also a common mistake, mounting of the unit is also a common mistake.

I would like some more info on your setup, what ESC's are you using? are they programmable?
