FAA NPRM - Do I have terrible timing?

Right, though holding a license is not a requirement to file for the 333 waiver, you could still file without one, as I did. The license is technically required to fly once the 333 is recieved. I guess the question is, will current 333 holders still be required to have the license after the 107...

FAA NPRM - Do I have terrible timing?

But do you expect the pilot's license to remain a requirement?

FAA NPRM - Do I have terrible timing?

Lawyer, so I'm already out a decent chunk of change.

FAA NPRM - Do I have terrible timing?

Yeah the 333 is a given, it's filed and I expect it soon. The SPL seems like the "better safe than sorry" solution, but man I wish I had an airfield 15 min from my house... Maybe I can just parachute home after each lesson?

FAA NPRM - Do I have terrible timing?

Yeah I'm expecting about a 2+ month process which is what makes the decision hard ... To finish in June and have the FAA turn it all upside down in July? My "livelihood" doesn't depend on it, as this is an extension of a larger ground-based video production company... but I'm sitting on a decent...

FAA NPRM - Do I have terrible timing?

So I've filed for my 333 exemption, I expect to recieve it in about a month or so. In the meantime I've signed up to get my sport pilot$ licen$e in order to be fully legal to use my UAV for my business, I expect to finish that in about 2 months. But I'm now googling around and it seems like the...

Alta Price goes UP - A LOT.... $11,995.00 WHAT?!?!?!

As far as 4k goes, TV sets are a red herring. Compression will be the limiting factor there for a while (but not forever). And I could make the same argument against dynamic range - HDTVs can't display anywhere near 13 stops, so what's the point?! I mostly produce 1080p TV commercials. I shoot...

Alta Price goes UP - A LOT.... $11,995.00 WHAT?!?!?!

With regards to 4k, I don't wanna drive the thread way off topic but I wanna say for the most part jfro is right about dynamic range, wrong about everything else. ;)

Alta Price goes UP - A LOT.... $11,995.00 WHAT?!?!?!

Looks like I pulled the trigger just in time! Considering the timing with the first crash I'd be inclined to wonder (hope) if this huge increase is freefly realizing the amount of customer service needed to properly back up a product like this and making sure they are rolling that into the cost...

333 exemption, better for business or individual? (US)

If I could poll the pros, I'm starting my 333 filing soon and I was wondering if there is any advantage to getting the exemption for my LLC as opposed to in my name? I was just planning to file in my name because the way I see it, if I get myself personally exempted, then I can do business...

    FREEFLY Systems Alpha 7 ii

I just picked up an a7s II. I'd give an air review but the Alta doesn't show up till December. On the ground, so far it looks stunning. Especially if you are good at post and can navigate s-log workflow.

We should form our own Drone Avengers that protects the common man from ill-informed phantom jockeys. Did I take the thread way too off-topic again?

Oh great... is this true? (registration)

Many airports control the bird population by deliberately introducing birds of prey to the area. Maybe the solution it to create one big drone that actively hunts all the little ones near the airport... or just train falcons to attack phantoms! Nobody steal my business idea, I thought of it first!

Oh great... is this true? (registration)

It's sounding more and more like it might be smartest to just bite the bullet and get that damn pilots certificate... but if they then turn around and say I can't fly without a $50,000 diamond-encrusted flight controller I swear I'm gonna write the FAA the meanest Yelp review...

Oh great... is this true? (registration)

I often attribute questionable government actions to ineptness rather than hunger for power... this just feels like the FAA trying to hold off scrutiny by saying "Look! We're doing something, we promise!" without really caring what the effect is either way. What's killing me is the original...
