Are there now no options for the gimbal without the controller? For instance if I had my own controller, do I still need to purchase one through the shop?

It is unfortunate that you've had this experience. Keep at it - because it seems like eventually they do respond.....hopefully :). They are notorious for having the worst/non-existent customer service and should be avoided for large purchases if you ever hope to get support for that product...

Apparently there is a firmware flash that can open up 8 channels via CPPM. This would take an interface I believe. Might just be easier to get an Rx with a full 16 channels (future use) for $30.

But does the receiver?

If I'm not mistaken, the receiver you have is not going to have enough channels for what you need. Isn't it only 4? Or does it have sbus? If it's 4, you need to get a receiver with at least 8 channels. 4 for the sticks, the rest for flight modes, gimbal control, tuning etc.

Thanks for the clarification. Seems people are having troubles with the Phobotic - but more specific to the horizon. There has been talk of them working on some new mind-blowing update - that apparently may address horizon, but it's not clear.

Ok, got it. If it's random in its drift - that's not the issue I was mentioning. Have you checked the balance and CoG of the craft itself? Motors are all level etc?

Hopefully with more time, some of these features will trickle down to the lower cost components. I think that's typical with any industry, as the technology improves, and the "older" tech becomes old hat - it makes its way into the consumer market.
