Frame Suggestions for OP CC & FPV

That's what I have my CC board mounted on, the 450mm quad frame. First flight will be in a couple hours from now... Ken

Tau Labs The famous Warthox tests CopterControl

A good thing to do if possible would be to publish some baseline settings other than the default setup. For example give some base settings to start with if you want to fly mainly aerobatics and another set to start with if stable APV is the main use. That way people that have little experience...

    Thanks for being friendly

I'll just say this and then move on, the moderators here know who the trolls and troublemakers are, most of us are on other forums as well. Anyone is free to create an account here and participate but if the type of behavior going on over there also comes here then the offender will get one...

    Tau Labs CC Radio Failsafe

Fall out of the sky, or at least one of mine did... I see the problem this way, if it's a loss of control signal the best thing to do is get it on the ground ASAP with the motors OFF if the signal can't be restored. There's no certainly that the control will be reestablished so any other...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Arduino Multiwii forum

We've decided to open a new forum dedicated to Arduino, Multiwii and all the variations that are popping up so the collective knowledge about these boards can be found in one place. Enjoy! Ken

X8 coversion to MK - shopping list suggestions

The last MK flight controller I bought came with a buzzer in the box, you should probably verify with wherever you buy from if they include one or not. Ken

    Tau Labs CopterControl build

I'll certainly let you know how it goes. I suspect that if I had wanted to go into the code and tweak some of the settings for the ESC setup I might have gotten the Quadrino to work better with the no name ESCs but knowing just enough about coding to really mess things up I left it alone...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Quadrino success

The Turnigy are just cheap ESC's, the no name really cheapies are on the Gaui frame soon to be hooked to a Copter Control board, got the shipping notice in email this AM. Ken

JR .35 glow heli, bind and fly

Realistically a several year old 30 size RTF nitro heli is worth maybe $200 to $250 in todays market depending on the electronics in it, less if parts are getting scarce and no one is flying that model anymore. You could try posting it on RunRyder or RCG but I think you'll find not much interest...

    Tau Labs CopterControl build

Mine should be here around the end of the week, now I just have to figure out what to put it on. Maybe I'll see if its more tolerant of cheap ESCs than the Quadrino and install it on the 430mm extended Gaui frame. I seem to have an excess of inexpensive flight controllers of varying...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Quadrino success

Last week I got my hands on one of the new Quadrino advanced boards with autoleveling, altitude hold, and compass. Initially I put it on an extended Gaui frame with ESCs and motors that I had been flying with a KK blue board but no amount of PID tuning could get rid of the wobbles. While I was...

    Props, props, and more props

The carbon fiber props are on their way back to where they came from on RMA, one out of six was close to being balanced the rest not at all. Hopefully the new set will be as advertised and fully balanced. I did do one or two test flights with them just to see how they worked, didn't notice a...

    Props, props, and more props

I've now had a chance to get some flights in on the stock Hexa with the 10 x 5 Xoar props. The biggest difference Xoar vs Graupner is the noise level, the Graupners sound like a swarm of angry bees, the Xoar have a whispering sound that is much less noticeable. Once the altitude goes above 30...

    Mikrokopter Dead compass board

Yesterday I swapped out the GPS and Navi + MKMag boards, the stock Hexa is back to its normal stable self. A short test flight in the backyard in a light wind with the GPS engaged it didn't wander more than couple feet from the spot where I turned the GPS on. I was able to set A/H and P/H and...

    Mikrokopter Flight Data....Xbee vs Jeti

The Jeti uses it's own duplex RX to receive and send data from the TX. As near as I can figure out from the Germanglish Google translation you either need a TX that can take the Jeti TX module or you have to mod your own to work with it...

    Mikrokopter Dead compass board

It was bound to happen sooner or later, today I had my first failure of an MK circuit board. Went to the field with the stock Hexa, Gaui 330X, and newly built VC-20 430mm Gaui style frame now with KK blue board. My intent was to get some good aerial stills with the Hexa and then just do some...

    Mikrokopter Flight Data....Xbee vs Jeti

The BL temps are not one of the parameters recorded on the SD card, mainly just navigation data. Which live data to you want to see? If you want to see the BL temps real time the only way that I know of at the moment is the Jeti box. With the XBee setup you have two options, use MKtool and...

The more I have to deal with PID the more I like KK boards!

Swallows? No, you're thinking of Capistrano and in that case they'd be pretty laid back I imagine, California lifestyle and all ;) Ken

I'm not so sure about that, I travel to Texas on a fairly regular basis and it does seem rather foreign... ;) Ken
