Just tried a collective pitch heli...

Rob lets forget for a moment about the electrical disadvantages and talk just about the aerodynamics. It is cast in stone that the most efficient way to convert energy into static thrust is to use the largest swept area that produces a static thrust that is as close to the operating velocity as...

Yuri At the end of the day it all comes down to what you are comfortable doing. As cameras get better and smaller they place less demand on the platform used to carry them. MR's have had far more development in recent years and helis have stagnated because they were quite good at what they did...

Thanks Rob but actually I only have access to a CNC lathe so I use my old tool making skills to make those pre production parts. I reckon I can file it to within .001" . As far as any electronics are concerned I tend to use no more than is needed. Here is a good enough reason for that thinking...

Ben The answer is no. That one is by Robert at DJI/UAV Products but maybe I will sell some conversions to the US through him. I believe that one is a standard TDR with a Zen. My one only uses the main rotor head and drive gears but uses a different motor. and longer tail etc. Much bigger blades...

curious about differences between pancacke and standard sized motors

Bart I have used the 4008 without any problems but as I remember the 3006 was a problem. If you can snap the throttle open without getting a squeal and it starts ok then you are good to go. On 6s you should have good temperatures and not be running out of revs. with smaller props. I don't...

This is what goes on the front of my much modified TDR's:tennis: Next year I will offer conversion kits for different levels of commitment. Persistent, tenacious and determined performance of over one hour. with a max. speed of 200 KPH. Head speed 900-1300 rpm 1.8 wide section special in...

    S800 alternative props

My Dev. S800 has now passed the 250 flights mark and is running with 5.16. Also it is using 15x5 Xoars which I can recommend as the perfect combo with my adapters. This thing just gets better and better.

The important consideration is the pole count which with higher numbers can lead to problems with your ESC's

    5.16 official release

Only tested it on a F1 quad but it seems to be very smooth in the wind. I wonder if restrictions are being aimed towards a pro. level licensing charge. Didn't MK try and pull that stroke?

    S800 alternative props

You could probably use the same ones that I supplied in the kit. The ones that DJI use are not great IMHO I was thinking about making some alternative sets for the whole model. The DJI ones are ok for strapping down PC boards ets. But for the structural integrity of the model itself where...

    S800 alternative props

I guess with the new GPS units coming through The S800's should all be flying again soon. Getting a few reports that the Xoar 15x5 is well worth a try. I do prefer the idea of light wood as opposed to carbon. I still have a few adapters left but probably wont be making too many more as this...

Just tried a collective pitch heli...

That is the true WHY of MR's They are easier to fly and that is all. Too bad they still don't have the reliability, speed, stabilization in wind etc. of a pro. built SR. When you can be totally confident with nose in hovering on the sim. That is the time to try your luck with the model. We had a...

Get a sim from Phoenix, it will save some time. The upcoming flybarless controllers from DJI and Skookum with GPS position hold will make it easier. I find that a standard mini Vbar does the job. and is completely reliable. Flybarless is the only way to go.

    Zenmuse Problems !

If your gimbal is turning the wrong way then it means that the IMU is not pointing to the same front as the gimbal. IT IS EASY TO PUT THE AIRFRAME ON BACKWARDS?

If this doesnt give you a heli woody, then you need some UAViagra!

Why does it need retracts. It has a tail rotor.
