Y6 versus Hexacopter....... Advantages one over the other? Chime in!!

I've had both and I prefer the Hexacopter myself. The Y6's lose efficiency because they have blades that down-wash into each other. I have MUCH more lifting power with a Hexa than I did with the Y6 and I'm using the EXACT same setup, all I did was transfer it from one to the other. Also I have...

    High amp power distribution board

Check out YouTube. The basic concept is that you have a piece of conductive metal, you put holes in it and attach your wiring to the plate. You use a separate plate for positive and negative and never let them touch. A piece of scrap metal will flow all kinds of power :)

    High amp power distribution board

The point being the same exact thing but do what works for you. Use a hunk of gold if you want, probably cheaper then the "certified" board you're looking at lol...

    Show your FPV video

It's funny you say that because I have the same problem with sand, anything where the colors don't contrast is hard to fly in. The sand will actually do the same thing and reflect enough light you are blinded. That's when having a HUD is very, very useful. I can't wait to get mine totally...

    High amp power distribution board

Build your own, at that point you can just build your own for a couple dollars if not free. Grab a piece of scrap aluminum and drill some holes in it, make connections to that for positive and make another separate aluminum board one for negative connections. Separate them so they cannot touch...

    DJI "NEW" 10" Props

You're not reshaping the airfoil you're just removing some weight through the removing of some of the plastic. I try to evenly remove plastic and I do it from the top and bottom, it usually doesn't take much. To finish it just use 1000 grit or finer sand paper and it'll be smooth as a baby's bottom.

    DJI "NEW" 10" Props

No tape, I use a prop balancer and sand paper. I use 100 grit to take off large amounts of plastic, 220 grit for medium and 400 grit for finishing. Once the prop is perfectly balanced you can take a polishing compound, or even something like 1000grit, to smooth out the prop to get efficient...

Very well...going to give it a shot this afternoon. Headed out to the State Parks again to do some ariel filming. Going to keep the Protune on and do the whole export thingy and see how it goes.

Very good to know thanks! This was done without Protune in 1080p 30fps in wide angle yesterday. :)

I installed the latest firmware and wow what a difference, it's much, much faster. I'm not sure on this Protune stuff? Experience? I turned it on just now, I'll give it a shot and see what it does. The video already looks amazing compared to what I'm used to. I can't wait until the Go Pro 3...

    DJI "NEW" 10" Props

Use a prop balancer, they're one size fits all and they work very well. I just balanced all my blades and then polished them up so they are smooth as glass. It's difference is amazing, flying in straight lines...minimal vibrations etc etc...

Got the camera, it shoots great quality video but it sure is buggy. If you don't have an SD card in it forget it, you have to pull the battery...otherwise it works great. Wait until you see my new videos! I'll post them as soon as I'm done editing them. :)

    DJI "NEW" 10" Props

I haven't but they look a lot like the chinese ones from Hobbyking and those were very heavy plastic, not much flex in them either. I like Graupners if you can afford them or APC's if you're cheap, want a great prop and don't mind HAVING to balance all your props prior to use. Also, the APC...

    DJI "NEW" 10" Props

I'm sure those would be great for low weight/slow speed props but the design is horrible for high speed electric motors. The reason people choose APC or Graupner is not just because they are made well but because the design allows for high rpms with low tip stall and excellent thrust. For my...

Great idea, you could just wait it out until the low voltage alarm sounds and then locate it by that sound. I'm going to order some...

    DJI "NEW" 10" Props

First thing you should do is remove those motors or settle on using only Graupners...it's either or. There are 2 props out there in the 10" size, APC and Graupner. Now, if you want wodoen props that's different. Stick with what works and is known to work, the old props were garbage and the new...

    DJI "NEW" 10" Props

Their props do break, they are HORRIBLE and I've said that a couple thousand times now I think lol. The slow fly props are garbage too unless you have a light weight multi. Whatever...either way I like my APC props and they never break and they're about a dollar or 2 and are as good as...

    Quad is gone/fly-away

Please do! Make sure you let us know if it's worth it or not. My question would be, how does the GPS call out? Does it use a cell service, do you pay for that? We fly out in the boons, if there's no cell then what? It looks like the dude calls it with his cell phone, it pings back its location...
