Changing props for high altitude flying

Yuri may not be necessary. Performance degrades approximately 3% per 1000 feet. But lots of us are flying in Colorado at or above that altitude with no detrimental effects. What does eCalc tell you for reference.

    Idaho uav bill alert

If you fly in IDAHO please see the changes that were made on March 27 to SB 1134. The original bill exempted an “unmanned aircraft system used in the taking of commercial photography”. The bill was tabled but yesterday came back to life with some amendments, one of which removed the language...

Professional Association of RC Aircraft Pilots - US Commercial AP Work

You are correct about the terminology. There was a U.S. Senate hearing last week on 'drones'. One of the folks testifying tried to get the chairman to use the phraseology that the F.A.A. is using, UAV, UAS and the like. He got admonished by the Senator, paraphrasing, 'Don't tell us what to...

    Best ground station/monitor option

Brent I've got the Foxtech 8" and it is easily viewable outdoors. Same model sold by FoxTech (about 7 days from china to colorado) and ReadyMadeRC. Saw that Kopterworx also has the 10".

Professional Association of RC Aircraft Pilots - US Commercial AP Work

Richie all good questions. 1. PARCAP is a 501(c)(6) registered with the IRS and State of Colorado as a non-profit association. 2. Officers are Andy Johnson-Laird, Gary Haynes and Shaun Stanton. 3. These are the forming officers and elections will be held as per the bylaws of the association...

GoPro Three Black KILLED my MicroSd card

Dave I went through 2 H3Blacks. Multiple freezes when you least expected and the support answer was to remove the battery. Got a refund. They seem to either work brilliantly or crash and burn out of the box. The comments for the item on Amazon are probably the worst I have ever seen for a...

Question about Custom info on ECALC

So just plug that into eCalc manually along with the data that they already have about case length, KV, etc. and now you have your own motor data.

Question about Custom info on ECALC

Unless you have more data like resistance to enter into the motor data points you are not going to be able to get any results. I'd send them an email asking for full specs. The webpage seems to missing resistance, no-load current, max limit (amps or watts) and number of poles, but you could...

Where to buy Cinestar 3 axis gimbal?

Hoverfly Hoverfly PRO and Opto ESC's

Kloner the ICE 50's aren't OPTO's, at least as far as I know. I followed the guides on page 41 of the latest manual. It says "Connect power from a single ESC to the HoverflyPro to power the Receiver. " And the drawing shows one BEC lead with ground, power, signal and the remainder having just...

Hoverfly Hoverfly PRO and Opto ESC's

One of the drawings and the suggestion I had from HF was to have the red power wire from the BEC/ESC disconnected from all but the ESC from motor 1 when connecting to the HF board. So I simply slid the center red pin out of the BEC housing in and taped it back on the BEC lead. That way if I...

    What is (a) Bec?

BEC Battery Eliminator Circuit Basically reduces voltage, typically in our usage to 5V. Castle Creations and several others make BEC's that can have the voltage adjusted through software.

    USA insurance

Tahoe you are misreading the statement. What they are saying is that normal run of the mill General Liability insurance doesn't cover the aircraft. Makes sense because liability has nothing to do with 'hull' insurance. But Aerial Pak does have 'hull' coverage up to the size limits that they...

    New lipos 12000 mah 6s

I would call them and ask if they are suitable for Multi-copter usage. They have been very forthcoming. Some of their high C batteries which sound like they would be great for our type of usage they will tell you are not meant for the types of loading that we do to them. Better suited for RC...

New Legislation enacted in MO yesterday

Starter I wouldn't get to happy about this. Here's the troubling section: 2. No person, entity, or state agency shall use a drone or other unmanned aircraft to conduct surveillance of any individual, property owned by an individual, farm, or agricultural industry without the consent of that...

    Mikrokopter MK Mikrokopter ACC Calibration

Sorry Ross just can't resist. Your method is what results in straight and level flight looking like your Avatar. :pig: Seriously only kidding..... But I saw a great idea from a friend today. Take a round bubble level, mount a motor nut to the bottom with epoxy. Make sure as it sets that...

    Pending CA Legislation

Here's the bill which he introduced in Dec 2012. This is a strange bill. If I am reading it correctly it just says that the State should establish standards for operation. Like I say really weird but maybe this is how they write legislation in California. Introduced by Senator Padilla...

    Mikrokopter Mounting GPS on boom

Craig you can mount the GPS by itself or also move the Navi out. If you move the Navi you will need longer 10 conductor and 6 conductor ribbon cables. Lots of folks flying CineStars move both. Better to get the compass magnetometer further away from the power boards.
