Feel kinda like Rip Van Winkle

ndog..... whatever you do...... don't blink..... it's all changing that fast now. As one colleague said after a tech update seminar..... "learning new technology is like trying to take a sip of water from a high pressure fire hose"!!! I too miss the days of simply filling up the fuel tank and...

    brushless gimbals and wind.....question

The very best 2 axis actuator systems are being used for Astronomical telescopes for GoTo and tracking with tremendous precision such as the following: http://www.bisque.com/sc/pages/ParamountMX.aspx This technology originally developed for heavier scope has migrated down in size and weight. But...

    DJI A2 Official Users' Thread

It functions in a very similar manner overall but.... The A2 has a built in 14 channel RC receiver, larger and more accurate GPS module etc.

    brushless gimbals and wind.....question

More robust BGCs are needed to drive the larger axis motors as required for the heavier cameras as in the case of Alexmos offerings and most others (not sure about Martinez). In addition to PID loop control for each axis there is another parameter that helps to regulate the amount of motor...

    Motor RPM

What would cause one motor out of a set of 6 to have a higher rpm than the remaining five? In this case all motors are brand new and being run up on a test bench with the same ESC, battery and speed controller etc. But one sounds much faster at full speed.

DJI iOSD Screen Layout *could be a lot better* :)

IMHO - Yes..... there seems to be room for improvement.....all a matter of firmware updating IMHO. But it seems to me that adding the GPS Lat/Long would make the iOSD compete with the DJI GCS products to some extent. Once that door is opened, others could jump in quickly with Google Earth...

I've only got one set of hands..... pilot, photographer or both?

Blades.... For what it is worth.... In some countries the regulations require a 2nd MR operator for safety reasons where the pilot is at risk of crashing the MR due to multitasking challenges such as with FPV and/or video work. But the 3rd axis also adds a significant amount of MR weight so as...

    DJI A2 Performance/Build Comparisons

Hoping to see more of these including sets to accomodate props up to 16 inch dia or more.

    DJI A2 Performance/Build Comparisons

Very nice..... any chance you can provide the AUW and total flight time for your system? The need for a slip ring caught me off guard... would sure like to see how you did that!

    Common ground on different voltage

Be careful.... for a simple concept... grounding can still be very confusing. When a common return is connected to the earth, it is a true earth grounded system. In an aircraft there is no such thing as an earth grounded system but a common return is still necessary. Referring to the common as a...

Please Help - Lost E-clips and motor washers after bearing swap!

Glad it is working out for you..... One place I was able to source the retainer clips was Fastenal.... if that helps....... After recognizing that it is only a single retainer clip that holds the prop and the bell to the motor shaft, I have since avoided hard upward acceleration of my MR while...

Please Help - Lost E-clips and motor washers after bearing swap!

Actually I meant that the loss of prop c/w motor bell..... the rotor/winding remain with the MR.

Throttle difference ? ATT vs GPS vs Manual Mode ???

Review your system configuration, typical NAZA sounds etc. by reviewing these YouTube videos: 1,2 and 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck3tu-4UVgg The ESCs will each beep on startup when properly configured with the rest of the system. I don't recall the NAZA ever beeping however. If you...

A bit more info and background on Futaba FWIW. Stands to reason that US Military would be looking for a high reliability and nearly failsafe industrial grade field proven solution for wireless control systems and communication protocols and Futaba Industrial has been at it for a long time...

How clear are your TX channels

So what this all seems to suggest, is that even 2.4 Ghz fhss RC control can be compromised if there is an excessive amount of rf traffic and/or high intensity rf noise across the portions of the spectrum used for your RC radio system!!! Haven't been able to track down the Immersion 400 -...

Throttle difference ? ATT vs GPS vs Manual Mode ???

The speed response you are experiencing I believe is typical when there is no load on the motor. When you put the props on you will see rpm continue to increase after 50% throttle. Reason: It's all about the motor torque speed curves. If you have the time and interest.... review the following to...

    Replacing bearings in brushless motors

BTW - I have all the other parts to make up complete kits including replacement circ-clips or retainer clips but am having trouble finding shim washers. Anyone know where I can source these...? These kits are for the new pancake style motors with a 6mm shaft diameter and use the very...

    The lure of cheap stuff....

Hoping you are not talking about the Super Hungry Power distribution board...... IMHO the concept still needs some work as the only reason for aluminum heat sinks is for situations where the copper plate gets into a thermal runaway condition due to being too thin. Simply smarter to eliminate the...

    Coaxial Inefficiency

There is a very detailed scientific analysis that has been done by one of the universities on counter-rotating coax ducted fan efficiency. And Howard Hughes engineers worked this all out with counter-rotating aircraft propellers back in the 40's claiming it was more efficient that using...
