I've been watching this thread. I have similar issues. I built a Hex and I also have a lot to learn. I'm having some instability issues.
Isn't 4.5 kilos pretty heavy for a quadcopter?
Anyway, I hope you're making progress. I didn't think of posting a video of mine, but from the advice OldGazer...
Especially after flying or charging, a couple of my Turnigy batteries are getting rather "balloonish" Although they still hold a good charge. Is this common? Or am I eventually going to have a flaming acid explosion either during the charge or during flight?
Maybe I just need more practice, but the slightest movement of the sticks tends to over-react or jerk the quadcopter. I was hoping for more smoothness.
This is what I have:
Homebuilt DJI 550 Hexacopter
Naza V2
FrSky Taranis X9D Plus
X8R Receiver
PropDrive 800KV 20-30S
Afro 30amp ESC
10 inch...
I've got six (of course) Propdrive 28 30s 800KV motors, Afro ESC 30A controllers and inespensive 10 inch props. Do you know how much your hex weighs? I can weigh mine tonight. Thanks for your reply.
Hey all,
I appreciate all the knowledge people are willing to share in this forum. I've been searching the previous messages but have a few (very) basic questions I can't seem to find.
My specs:
I built a DJI 550
Naza V2
FrSky Taranis X9D Plus
X8R Receiver
In a nutshell, my landings have been...
I'd love to explore the potential of what these consumer-level drones can do for research and science here at the university. The school tends to spend vast amounts of money on extremely expensive equipment but no one realizes what a reasonably-priced drone, like a DJI, can do in the hands of a...
Hi Chipwitch, I too am using a Taranis but what kind of throttle curve would you start with. My F550 Hex is mainly used for photography and yes, I'm new to this. My problem is on decent it tends to drop way too fast and I've already broken landing gear and damaged my gimbal. I don't care if it...
I purchased a FPV camera with recording ability and integrated transmitter (FX787T 5.8G 200mW 40CH AV Transmitter). It has the option to activate the record function remotely. Assuming I solder a wire to the "record control" and run that to an available channel of my X8R Receiver, then assign a...
I'm at the point where I'm shopping for a transmitter, receiver and monitor for the hexacopter I've built.
I'm using a GoPro Hero 4 and a Tiny 2 3 axis gimbal. This is not for distance flying, just aerial photography so I don't think the wattage is a big issue (although your thoughts may...
You're right. Connected only to power it does what it's supposed to do..keep the camera level. I assumed the other five wires will give me more control, but the calibration software that came with the Tiny 2 does not advance after the first step. It shows an image of how you are supposed to hold...
I did the bind on my XR8 to enable channels 9-16, then plugged the gimbal cable into pins 9,10,11,12. Now I've mounted my Tiny 2 gimbal, installed the Mac USB driver and the Tiny 2 configuration software but it isn't isn't recognizing the device. When I power it up, the gimbal rotates...
My mistake, not failsafe, I followed Dennis video to programmed a three-way switch to give me manual, ATTI and GPS. I'm new to this and am sticking to GPS mode for the time being. I did the bind on my XR8 to enable channels 9-16, then plugged the gimbal cable into pins 9,10,11,12. Now I've...
Thanks for the reply John. I am now just wondering where exactly the gimbal wire plug into the X8R.
I've watched Dennis' videos for the initial setup of my Taranis. I looked at some more and I do understand the procedure to bring it up to 16 channels now (I have to find my jumpers somewhere)...
