I am a Wikipedian since 2009 and a dedicated Wikipedia Photographer since 2011. In september 2014 I was asked to join a photo-flight over Stockholm and surroundings using a helicopter rented by Wikimedia Foundation. It was great fun, but expensive. Also a full-size rotorcraft is a bit inflexible to be a good photo platform. Sp during winter 2014/2015 i decided to take my photography to a new level (both figuratively and literally) by building a multirotor drone for aerial photography. I've been reading up a lot on forums like this to be able to make good design considerations. The first consideration was that the mainstream GoPros were not good enough cameras (small sensor and a wildly distorting fisheye), so I decied to use the Nikon J3 which I already had (320g with 10 mm f/2.8 lens) and build a multirotor capable of carrying it.
