Greetings From Wisconsin

:pig:Wisconsin land of bratwurst and beer. I would hate to meet up with a drunk multirotor pilot.

My interest in flight goes back to the 50's. I loved to make ultra-light gliders, but could not get the hang of control-line flying. I read articles of tethered model helicopters and I went wild. Now after a hiatus of 55 years I'm back! Model helicopters and multirotors are a reality. Started with the Lama 400 coaxial with the inevitable crashes. The operator and hardware bugs have been worked out, and I love it.

In looking at websites I found functional multirotors. I was hooked. Started with a home brewed quad using a KK2.0 control board. Failed and crashed miserably, but didn't stop. Got the hang of it finally, but was not satisfied with the KK2.0 board. I "bit the bullet" and bought the NAZA M without GPS and built a quad frame of wood. The quad went up and stayed up as if placed on a shelf. Wow, I was ecstatic. So far I've had it up 2 1/2 times with great success. The 1/2 time ended abruptly when a prop lost purchase and dropped from 10 meters. No damage, except one prop. It is hard to have calm flying days living nest to lake Michigan.

Best, Ross (A.K.A Loligo)

What's a few stitches among moltirotor friends?

Hi and Welcome,

I'm a fairly new into Quadcopters and started pretty much the same way as you with a home build and KK2.0 board. Had a few crashes, but was kinda getting the hang of it. Treated myself at xmas to a DJI F450 with Naza (no gps). Had 3 or 4 flights with the F450 now and really starting to get to grips with it. Ordered some 4s Batteries this week, so I'll be giving those ago this weekend :) (English Weather permitting).

Next purchase is deffo the GPS upgrade for me!

Anyway welcome to the forum!

Where in Wisconsin are you from? I visited Madison around '92
