First FPV setup, f450

I'm about to purchase a fpv setup and before I pull the trigger I'd like a couple suggestions.

Getting everything from RMRC.

Camera: 600xv
Vtx: ImmersionRC 600mW 5.8GHz transmitter
Antenna: Circular Wireless Omni Skew Planar Wheel 5.8GHz Tx/Rx Antennas
Goggles: Fat Shark Dominator goggles, Fat Shark 5.8GHz (-90dB) Rx module

Two things.

RMRC is telling me to get the blue beam whip antenna set. Should I stay with the CW set or go with the blubeam?

I've read that I should order a 2.8mm lens as this is good for multi copters?

Take a look at this video to compare the 2.8mm vs 3.6mm lens. I personally like the 3.6mm but others like the 2.8mm as they can see more.
securitycamera2000.com have reasonably priced cameras ... Pixim Seawolf seem to be great for FPV ... 3.6mm link here and the 2.8mm link here.
They have different cameras that arent enclosed as well, but I like that extra protection.

As for the antenna's, I have the Circular wireless Omni Skew Planar tx/rx antennas and love'em. I can't comment on the Blubeam, as I haven't used them.

Will the live video feed through that pixim seawolf camera look any different than the video feed from then 600tvl through dominator googles?

Better quality with regards to flying in bright light. Here is another useful link.
Stick with the immerson vtx/rx gear though.

One good thing about RMRC, is that they will set you up with everything you need.

Just about any of them will work fine with a 600mW vTX on a multi. As long as the receiver you use has the right antenna setup you can't fly far enough away with a multi for the video link to be a problem, you'll run out of radio range on 2.4 gHz before you outrun the video link.


I have a combination of Bluebeam, Fatshark Spironet, and several that I made myself, they all work equally as well as any I've used on a multi. The best setup I have found so far is a skew planar wheel on the vTX and an Immersion Duo vRX with an SPW on one port and a crosshair antenna on the other for the ground station/monitor/dvr and the new Fatshark Attitude goggles with the builtin vRX for flying. I have perfectly clear video with the Attitudes out to the range limit of my JR 11x on 2.4 gHz. I have yet to test the goggles at any longer distance with the long range EZUHF gear.

P.S. I have both Dominator and the new Attitude goggles, the builtin vRX in the Attitude far outperforms what my Dominators can do with the vRX module. The price difference isn't that big, I would definitely recommend going with the Attitude vs the Dominators.

SD, I don't think the HD will be available until spring of next year and all the vTX I have max out at 640 x 480 video frame anyway so no need for HD goggles.

Any difference in picture quality between those attitudes and the dominators?

The Dominators with the new -90dB module change the performance big time but I don't have a pair of Attitudes to compare.

I'll be going ground Receiver soon anyways so then it won't matter anyways :shrug:
I decided on the new Duo v3, my Omni and a Helical as well for now and will test the limits of this. Ken what Helical did you end up rocking?

The antenna debate will be a preference thing and this portion of combos will give such different results as no craft, set-up and area will be the same.

I personally went with the Omni Skews and have been out 4,000 feet with my Dominator goggles and -90dB module. I'm sure the bluebeams will do just the same as they are made by IBCrazy & his stuff is proven to work. Regardless you'll be happy & ready for fun

I'd be tempted to try the new module in my Doms if they had the adjustable screen distance like the Basic and Attitude, I really don't undertsand why they left that feature out on the Doms. I put up with not being able to clearly see all of both screens for the entire season on the Doms and was thrilled to get the Attitudes and be able to see everything clearly again, the distance between the screens on the Doms is just too narrow for me. I'll probably clean them up and post in the classified section along with some other stuff I don't use when I begin the new year clean up of the workbench area. Having both sets I can say the Attitudes do have better color and clarity than the Doms, not as big a difference as the Basic to Dominator, but noticeable once you've use the new ones for a flight or two.

I've only ever used one helical and found the pattern too narrow for where and how I fly, I get much better coverage using one or two crosshair antennas on a Duo RX. The 5.8 crosshairs are a bear to make as the wire diameter and length are small and dimensions need to be as close as possible. Still, I'd rather the 3 or 4 hours it took me to make the pair I have than spend the $150 it would cost to buy a pair ready made. If I flew planes FPV a helical would probably be a better choice for long range with the addition of a tracker, totally unnecessary on a multi IMO. The SPW and crosshair/SPW/Duo combo is the least interference prone setup I've used so far with a direct wire to the Dominator goggles, the Attitudes so far have proven to be perfectly fine without the hardwired connection on 5.8.

Gotcha, that's my debate is with the new Duo and my one Omni Skew.
Add the circular wireless Helical, IBCrazy's 5 turn Helical or the TRC crosshair to start.

Hell, buy all and test for myself I guess

Welcome, I love my CW Omni's & ordered their Helical this morning to try with the IB 5-turn

Many are saying the Attitudes give better results because of the built in RX vs. the module but I got the new -90dB module for my Dominators and saw a good improvement on performance. Also if the Attitudes are adjustable that's the other thing over the Dominators. I didn't need adjustment so the Dominators have been great for me.

Just ordered everything. They are out of stock on the vTX and goggles so I'll be waiting for a little bit I guess.
