Release 5.16

I started a new post as the other one on the 5.16 release got off onto a big discussion of the height features and not much of anything else.

I am more concerned with users who have tried the release and if they have had any problems with it.

I have a weird problem with my S800. It seems ok but when I fly it it loses altitude. My vertical gain is 250. Roll and Pitch are 240 each and seem very snappy and Yaw is 200 which seems ok. But the vertical gain is like it is way too weak. The altitude varies in meters. A slight breeze can bring the whole bird almost to the ground from 4 or 6 meter altitude. Terrible to fly because of the altitude drop.

Then my super fancy Zen muse is allover. Horizon is almost there but the bastard is pointing always 12 degrees to left (FPV mode)! They spend some much effort to make these absolutely cool industrial designs like Zenmuse and S800 and then the software is a joke!

Why does the software not have a trim for the roll and heading? A simple feature like that -- Same thing for the compass... It is time consuming and idiotic to pull the compass out and guestimate an inclination to make the bird fly straight... Put the option to use X3 or X2 for compass direction trim. PLEASE! And make ONE software not that every device needs its own.

This altitude issue has been with 5.14 and 5.16. The S800 is one month old. And the new compass did not help the altitude issue at all.

I have not had more problems with 5.16 than 5.14. So far... I have flown 30 minutes today with the new software.

SO, your problem is not with 5.16!! because your last statement tells us this!...a little off topic

Is it a problem of your setup, because there's not anyone else on here with this type of altitude issue. Also, the altitude is sensed by the IMU not the compass, so it could be an IMU fault. I would first try the gain settings recommended by DJI in the WKM manual.

3 min flight on 5.16. It seemed a lot smoother with the new firmware. I still have a bit of hunting from the zenmuse.

I upgraded to 5.16. I test flew my Y6 indoors. It was just a low hover check. I didn't notice any difference in my flight performance during the hover check.

The low battery state yellow strobe flashes much slower than the prior firmware upgrade. I wonder if the speed of the strobe corresponds with the battery level.

I am a little late commenting on this, but I too experienced an unusual drop in altitude when flying with 5.16. I set up my S800 with DJI's recommended settings. While in hover it seemed to hold fine, but as soon as I moved it around and changed attitude abruptly, it would start dropping altitude in a hurry. I could power out of it, but it was unsettling. While flying in manual mode, it flew perfectly fine. The other unusual behavior I was getting was that when I would plug in battery, one esc would initialize later than the rest. I reverted back to 5.14 and everything was back to normal for me. I have read that a few others have noticed the strange ESC out of sync. Has anyone explained this?

I've done a few flights with 5.16 and 3 of them at 90m high and it flew quite well (octo with spektrum DX8). I still need to adjust a bit the gain settings as it tends to wobble when descending.
