XAircraft x650 upgraded motors? What do people use?

I was looking at Avroto 2814 but have seen reports or plastic arm ends snapping due to weight and that they don't fit directly to the mounting plates.

I have a 2KG set up with gimbal and looking at 9 or 10" graupner (I have 10" already). What heavy lift for 2-2.5kg motors exist for the X650 that work with 4S?

Hi Totality. I use following setup:
Tiger Motor MT3506 650 kv http://rctigermotor.com/show.php?contentid=142
AKE 30 amp ESC http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet/the-2239/Multi-rotors-aircraft-AKE/Detail
Motor mount http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet/Categories
Prop http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet/Categories
Total weight without go pro 2Kg, Flight time with 4s battery around 15 minutes (discharge to 3.7 per cell). Motors run very smooth. Motors and ECS’s are cool after 15 minutes hover. I am just not very sure if I have chosen the right prop size for this set up but I am satisfied now.

Really hard to beat MT motors!
I have an X/A Hexa, using 2216-900 kv running 8" Gaui props on a 4s 5000mah battery. Well over 100 flights this year and just love it!

Thanks guys, so you both recommend MT motors on the XA frames? Do you both use the mounting kits for them? Saidquad, I can't find the mounts you are referring to. Tomstoy, what is your overall weight? Do you have a link to the motors you use and how you mount them?

Thanks, so it is basically new arm ends. Just wondering how TomStoy has mounted the motors as the motor mounts are the same on the hex, but you cannot replace the arms. How have you mounted the TM motors to the hex mounting plates?

Got mine from RCDude, I believe. I'm running the 2216-900kv's and they just bolted right on, no problem at all.
Wires pointed directly at the boom, too, makes a nice clean install.
No mounting adapter needed, just bolts directly to XA's motor plate.

If you build an X/A, do yourself a favor and throw out the bolts, go to a hardware store and get some real bolts. Never use round head bolts, either.

I did have one motor and one esc go bad during the burn-in phase. After that they have been flawless.

OK I have been looking locally and the only place local does the 2216-800KV motors, not the 900KV. Do you reckon the 800 would be OK with 10" props? I already have the X650 built (I have made threads about the poor quality of the screws!!) and it flies on the stock DJI motors. I fly at 2KG now and want to get rid of the cheapy DJI for better sense of safety!
