Traditional RX octo 5.12a

Is anyone flying 5.12a on a flat octo with a traditional RX?

If so how is it performing? I'm on 5.06 at the moment and am happy but would like to update.

There was a thread on here a while ago with someone testing this config and they said that it was ok, but it was early days. I'm just wondering if anyone else has been flying this setup now that its a bit older and have you had any probs?

Cheers

Yep. Today I made my first three flights on 5.12a. It worked allright. As I anticipated need for gain re-tuning I set it up with variable gain on rate and attitude. Preliminary tuning ended with slightly less rate gain and slightly more on attitude. It flew ok though frequent two white flash when moving it around and some light attitude twitching at some moment. Don't like those white flashin :sly:
Seemed to hold gps position a bit more firmly in some above tree-top wind turbulence.
Still have not tried advanced functions IOC, POI or go home or click-and-go on this firmware.
It certainly would not hurt it some DJI representative stepped forward and commented on the current situation with regards to firmware status in varius setups. But silence prevails.

Three more flights today on 5.12a. All ok.
This time I tested RTH (altitude), Home Lock and POI. All this worked as supposed to.

Was that done with modified/new wkm unit? (the one with same resistor values at each output) or it was done with an old wkm model?

So the trouble on esc outputs 7 and 8 has been solved by firm for all wkm units no matter how old they are? you know that before or you simply has bigger balls than others and have had good luck?

Eh well, can't comment on the balls but it is correct that there has not been any official Dji statement about old MC being guaranteed without risk on non dji esc. I reckoned better safe than sorry, thats why I am goin to replace it. And obviously dji agrees (and that is +1 for Dji).
My private conclusion is that recent motor 7&8 problems was a pure firmware 5.12 problem. Since 5.12a is labelled beta there still aint no firm guarantees either. Btw, regarding balls, I was not the first brave to fly trad rx octa on 5.12a :p
