Hi there,
Very new to the RC world, have owned to odd RTF plane over the years but have recently invested in the DJI F550 hex. My background is in TV production and i love the shots I've been seeing lately from the likes of Cinebird and Cloud Level Media. I know it'll be a long time and a number of upgrades before achieving these results but hey, gotta start somewhere eh?!
Also the first forum i've ever joined so go easy on me!

Hi Pete,
yeah still shooting, mainly on the 5D mark II and III these days. still edit a bit when i have to. looks like you've got some great kit. do you do any filming as well or just stills?

Mainly stills but I'm still working / building on the video side of things. I don't have a big budget and I like to diy. I don't have "James Cameron asperations!". I have worked on a couple of jobs with "Stacky" from Auckland (you will see his name dropping in when he has time). He is a pro photographer who took up multis 18 months ago.

A few months ago we did the Nokia Lumia / All Blacks flying into Western Springs. We both built 2 quads each but Stacky was the brains behind the anti-vibration work. I did the flying (blind over the entrance way...), then screeming down the hill on a golf cart! The hardest bit was making it look like teenagers did it! They used most of the first (of many) flights. No downlink - just guesswork.
We used Coptercontrol boards (loose as) and we had one Hoverfly quad if the wind got up - as it was rock solid compared to the CC quads. As the copter was to be smashed out the sky... we didn't want to break the HF board!

ha, nice mate. hope that wasn't an expensive one!
so i've been flying the go pro just messing around and getting comfortable with putting a couple of grand worth of kit up in the sky, now ready to look at gimbals.
Do you have any thoughts on the AV130 or 200? i guess for the size of my setup i'll have to go with the smaller of the the two but its annoying as we already own a 5D. heard of anyone flying a 5D under a DJI F550?
