MK FC 2.1 ME Boot Loader

OK, I see this on the Wiki pages and I'm not sure what it means... although I get it that they don't want China de-engineering it,

• the boot loader for FC2.1 is not public domain and can not be read out thanks to our good friends in china.
• a AtMega1284 Prozessor with programmed bootloader is available here
• under no circumstances is it allowed to program or delete the ISP with Atmel programmers

Does it mean that the 2.1ME can't be updated to newer firm ware?

with the MikroKopter-Tool that fitt the FW, you can update the FC

Thanks Lars, that was one of the issues.

It's more of , "the boot loader for FC2.1 is not public domain and can not be read out thanks to our good friends in china". What's the difference between the older(better built) Red Boards and the 2.1 boot loaders?
