F450 Migration to F550

I'm considering migrating the components (Naza, motors, ESCs, Rx) from my F450 kit to an F550. My kit came with the 2215/905 motors and the 30A OPTO ESCs. As the current kits come with the 2212/920 motor, and the availability of 2215 motors is virtually non-existent, I wonder if combining two 2212s to my existing 2215s would work on the new platform.

If not, my choices see pretty limited---scrounge up two 2215s or purchase six new motors. Doing the former might work until I had to replace one or more motors for some reason, then I'd likely end up doing the latter anyway. Just trying to cut costs where I can.

Any advice or opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Jack,

In the long run you might want to just buy the 550 frame with motors and electronics rather than mix and match. Leave the 450 intact so you can sell it when you want as an ARTF or part it out. You can go to my store and check out the 550 without a controller. They are in stock. I know......cheap advertising.

Are you saying it won't work? Or just that I should buy more stuff?

jack,

I would not mix motors of different specs on a frame. The motors must be closely matched or the controller will always be correcting and probably over correcting. I have never mixed motor types which is what you will be doing. Sell the 450 and buy the 550, you wil be happier.
