Do i need a BEC

Wondering if i need a BEC for power to my two hs 5056servos for my gimbal thats on its way.... Or is it fine to run em straight off the naza both power and signal?

Thanks

Better use a BEC, or a seperate 5s NiMh, 6 volt battery with two Y cables and then cut red wire at Naza

Is the Naza's VU not actually a BEC, is this not sufficient to run the gimbal servos. I have all my red wires disconnected from my ESC's going into the Naza. so I'm powering just from the VU. I intended to run my gimbal servos from the VU also.

Yes, the VU is a BEC, but HS gimbal servoes can easyly draw 6A, and then you are over the limit of the VU.

Other thing is that the VU only has a output of about 5 Volt, an you might find that your servos need more to operate correct if they are High speed or high volt.

Hi Elliot i have the same servos on Naza, but have problem with positions please read here and give me your feedback:http://www.multirotorforums.com/showthread.php?2337-Naza-Gimbal-problem
About external bec i think it's important too, infact with Naza exit i haven't enough power to move servos linear on gimbal, instead with a servo tester all is much smoothly. So please can you check if i understand the connections? I need to Y cable to chain the servo cable, one side of Y go to Naza with only Black and Yellow cables, other size of Y go to BEC exit and i can chain in parallel the Red and Black, right?

Look here is the same if you use BEC or extra battery, http://www.gibbsguides.com/photos/A6-P2-big.gif

wiring it up is no problemo for me, but if i set my Castle BEC to 6 volts then put a Y harness and run two servos will they still both get 6 volts or will i need 2 BEC's?

Cheers JF, I have a 3A/5V-6V BEC, I shall use that.
