Well I managed to get her up, so we filmed it with a Panasonic HDC-SD9 & the air vid was from the same camera. we didnt activate the gimbal as its purely a vibration test flight. When I was uploading the film to my computer I thought I would check out the OIS setting....it was on!!! This camera performs poorly on a RC aircraft when OIS is on...but take a look.

I was shocked by how responsive these things are!!!! I found if I let go of the sticks that she went right & forward slightly, not sure if the trimms on my transmitter will sort this or if she has to be 100% level when starting here up..eg left stick, upleft & then down right to start motors?

The worst part of the build was......making things more complicated in my mind than they actually were! I worried about what FC to get, then I worried about motors, props, ESC's...the list just went on & on...thats until I sat down & worked things out logically, in the right order.

Going to sort out the gimbal this week, get the live video downlink etc back on & then try & get the legs to retract..this is my next battle. I have to get a good BEC that can deliver 5A for the retract servo, also a 12v supply as I would like LED's on the 2 front arms. Why didnt anyone tell me at the start to say good bye to any spare money I might have :) :)

Well done Ross, it flies lovely!

Gunter.

3 days ago Gunter, I had to go 80-90% throttle to lift off....I started thinking the worst..motors not man enough, lipos not man enough or wrong props! Then a guy on here called Craig mentioned that I might have AH enabled, I was sure it wasn't...but he was right, it was on :( Sorted that out after some reversing in my DX7 & she now lift at about 35-40% throttle, seems like a different craft to the one a few days ago. I am so desperate to get her fully functional now...thank God for Barclaycard sponsorship :) :)

It is indeed Jim, with help from people like yourself. Now I want to get out & fly...if the 10-15MPH wind yesterday that I flew in was anything to go by, then I want to go out NOW ;)

@Ross.. I have my LED's running on four cells no mither.. A good BECwould be the castle creations 10amp programable one or if your on a budget and only need 6v the hobby winf will do just fine.

Make sure when you do your ACC calibration she is dead level on both axis. slight wanderings can be anything from slightly lazy motors to TX so dont worry to much if you need to trim her in a tad.. just make sure the ACC cal is done spot on..

Now Ill send a message to the UK wind god to give us all a break for a few days so we can all get out and fly!

I thought 4s would kill the strip LED's but if you're running yours like that, I'll wire a strip of 6 & give it a go.
At the risk of sounding completely lame...the ACC calibration is top left on the throttle stick, do you then write it to eeprom on the top right or straight from ACC to motor start?
Pray hard please Dave, I want another blast ;)
