Z axis cg

I'm wondering how critical the Z Axis CG measurment is. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out the CG for the Z axis (how to measure it).

Also on the X and Y axis are you using the middle of the GPS antenna or the edge of it.

I think state in the manual is that its the middle of the device. If thats again for all three axis i dont know. Concerning the Z axis i think most of us are guessing are trying differrnt values.

Hi Guys

I've got my WKM up and running and have it pretty stable but cant seem to get it totally sorted via adjust the various gains, I've come to the conclusion it must be my cofg settings.

Is either the IMU or GPS more important than the other to get right? The XY axis is simple but is the Z a case of try some setting and see what the effect is? If I'm swinging 2 lipos and a camera off the bottom of the frame (camera cradle) the cofg is going to be lower than the bottom frame plate... am I on the right lines?

japp you are right. Did you enter a postive or negative number for your Z axis ?

Going by the WKM assistant it should be negative?

At the moment I think I've got it set to the bottom frame plate, tomorrow I'll lower both the IMU and GPS Z axis and see if theres any improvement.

Remember, the diagram says red is positive. I had to set mine tonight. I turned the heli 90 degrees so the props were vertical and tried balancing it on a finger. It ended up best on the lower centre plate, half way between the battery and top plate. Best I could do.

Way I read it, if it's above the center it should be negative.

ah yes, my bad, I'm sure I have it the right way round on my setup just didnt look hard enough last night

The winds up ALOT today so it looks like my testing will have to wait.. I really hope adjusting the Z cofg settings gets the last bit of wobble out.

well, todays lesson is never trust the weather forecast, when I walked to the workshop I was met with little wind so I made some Z axis adjustments to the WKM and I have improvement... before I continue any further I'll wait until I've moved the wkm and other gear onto a frame I'm cutting right now specifically for the WKM.

At the moment its simply grafted onto an old quad frame not designed to carry the legs and camera cradle.
