Which receiver for my quad with dji?

I am building a quad with a DJI and already have a Spektrum DX7 transmitter. I was looking at getting the AR7100 Rx, is that a decent one, or is there another model I need.

You have to be careful with the Spektrum receivers. Not all of them will handle Preset Failsafe only Smartsafe. The AR8000 will for sure. You need Preset Failsafe for the failsafe in the WKM to work correctly.

Thanks Rich, if I understand what you said - I need a receiver with 'Preset Failsafe'. So with this information I called Spektrum support (which was great BTW - straight to a helpful tech), at first it stumped him but he read up some information and discovered that the 7xxx and 8000 receivers have 'Preset Failsafe' on the throttle, and the 9xxx series have it on all channels. Does that sound correct - we only need it on the throttle - or do you believe it to be on all channels on your receiver.

And at the end of the day, is the price is similar should I buy a Rx with more channels for upgrade paths?

No just on Throttle will work fine. My 7000 and 7010 didn't have it but I had a 9 channel JR receiver that did.

The 7000 is the 7010 is new but they are not as high end as the one your looking at. As long as Spektrum says they have it you should be fine.

I have AR8000 with JR PCM9XII upgraded to Spectrum 2.4. I have followed the instruction someone put here on how to setup the fail safe. I set the 3 FlightModes to Fail safe in Blue, binded the RX with throttle at 40% and FlightMode to FailSafe (in Blue). Set the FlightModes to Manual, ATT and GPS att again but when I tested it by turning the TX off while in the software assistant, the throttle moved to 40% but the flightmode stayed in GPS mode instead of switching to failsafe mode??? what did I do wrong? can I use failsafe with AR8000?

Hi Duddy and welcom to MRF..

You have to do two binds with the AR8000. First bind the radio as normal. Then insert the bind plug with the battery disconnected and radio off. Plug in flight battery and then remove the bind plug BEFORE turning the radio on. Now go set the throttle to 40% and you need just one of the positions set to fail safe.

Unplug the battery and reboot the radio.. now go set your switch to your manual Atti and GPS..

When you turn off the radio it should now go to failsafe...

Hi Dave

Managed to make it work with your instruction!! Thank you, very much appreciated!. I've been searching all over the net on how to do it but couldn't find any .. untill now! :) I even tried to use SCPM so I can have the Fail Safe menu ! :)

Now I am ready to maiden it!

Thanks again Dave!

Greetings from Durango CO: I am pulling together my first build (in this case a hexa) and will be using the Wookong WK-M as my flight controller. I am leaning toward the Hitec Aurora-9 transmitter but I have not been able to find anyone who can confirm its compatibility with the Wookong FC. I have read that the Hitec Aurora-9 has a great telemerty unit to send all of this useful data back to the TX but I am not sure how or if it will work with the Wookong FC. I would be grateful for any wisdom you might be willing to pass my way with regard to this. To put my experience level into perspective (or lack there of): I have had more experience briskly rubbing my knuckles on 30 grit sandpaper and then plunging my hand into turpentine than I have in creating multicopters. That's a big zero :)
