Hello all.
New to not only RC and multirotors, but new to hobbies altogether. 4 kids, 1 of them special needs, have taken all the time and extra money for the last 18-22 years. Since the brief experiment with a real airplane (Maule MX180 with the tail gear-yeah I know, it eats my heart out just thinking about it) got cancelled due to lack of funds several years ago, I am thinking that FPV MR will be a wonderful albeit somewhat less expensive option. Got a 22 yr old son studying Mechatronic (Robotic) Engineering and I am a computer tech specializing in laptop repair, so between us we might have the necessary skills to build some pretty cool copters. Mainly just think this hobby will be a great thing for me and my 2 boys to do together. Bad part of this is that my contact and potential ambassador into the RC world who flew large scale RC aircraft passed away suddenly about 3 weeks ago so I am feeling somewhat lost and overwhelmed by the information that I have been reading. Thanks in advance for your patience. I promise to try to ask good questions and be willing to help others learn from my probably frequent mistakes. Plan is to buy one and build one. Purchase a small scale inside model to learn to fly and while learning to fly, build a larger scale quad for more advanced outside lessons once I start to get the hang of it on the small one.
How about a flying cliche:
Any landing you can walk away from...not really applicable in this case.
Remember the wheels or in this case landing gear should be pointed down when attempting to land.
Happy Flying Everyone!
