Phantom Range?

Ok, so heres my first, probably very dumb question:

I am about to buy a standard DJI Phantom with Zenmuse H3-2D gimbal and GoPro Hero Black and FPV. What I would like to know is what is the likely range that the Phantom will be able to fly before it loses contact with the standard controller?

In most cases around a mile or more. If you dont have FPV then is much further than you can see.

I guess the biggest limit is going to be the battery life then, not the range. Great if it can go a mile, but will it make it back, rhetorically speaking that is.

Thanks for the response, I will be getting an FPV with a 5" monitor. Not sure if I am ready for a fat shark just yet, and think it will be a good habit to learn to keep it in view.

In my experience it is less than a mile more like a kilometer, That Tx is not very powerful. Make sure that you have initiated Return to Home correctly. The big problem is when your FPV looses contact when you are too far out and have to turn off to get it back.
