Hoverfly please help!

I am in the arctic and have a major problem. One of my Pelican cases arrived on the baggage carousel wide open and missing a lot of critical items including all but four propellors (thanks TSA). As a last ditch effort until I can get more props sent I am considering trying to run my Cinestar 8 as a quad X. I made the switch in the Setup client, verified that the props are spinning in the correct directions, but when I tried to fly it the rudder is dramatically off center. I tried to trim it out on my DX8, but it was not possible. I tried to change the sub trims, but it did not compensate sufficiently. Also when running as as a flat 8, I have the primary gain set at 68. When I put it up in the air very briefly it was obviously much too high. If anyone has any suggested starting points for gain that might avoid a flip or a crash it would be much appreciated!

Can the motors be rotated on the booms? If so, are any of them rotated just slightly causing a little bit of yaw thrust? Only thing I can think of.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, not a good place to be missing gear :)

thanks guys. I was lucky to have two clockwise and two counter-clockwise props. Paul, you were right, the crazy yaw was coming from a prop that was not level. The quad X is flying very well now. The motors get hot, the ESCs warm, but it's getting the job done. Thanks so much for the help!
