Introducing Flytrex - New flight platform for Naza & Phantom. Bagdes, nearby pilots..

Hi all! :)

For the past couple of months myself and two friends have been working on a new project we've been designing and today we're excited to present Flytrex.com. With Flytrex, pilots can log and manage each of their flight details, analyze their piloting skills and improvement over time, track personal records, earn badges for different achievements, find other nearby pilots and more.

Flytrex integrates seamlessly with Naza-M V1, V2, Lite and the Phantom, no soldering is required, so it's 100% plug&play! (Phantom users will need to open the Phantom to install Flytrex though). Naza GPS is required.

You can check out a sample mission here, and my profile here.

We love flying and were looking for a tool that will help us analyze/study our flights and make our hobby more social. We're working on more great features at our site daily now. At this stage, and after so many months of internal discussions and work, we'd love to get feedback!

We'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback, get new ideas and feature requests and see how we can continue and develop Flytrex.

I hope you'll love it! :)

Already not loving it, I really don't think I need to have all my flights analysed, they are mostly not so memorable.

Hi Pete :)

Thanks for the feedback! :) I'm glad to say that when uploading a new mission you have an option to set its visibility status between private and public. This way, you can set your exciting/interesting missions as public and others as private. Private missions are only visible to you and are not displayed in the public pages (Explore and Globe).

We're now also working on adding a profile-level default visibility status, so users could set the default visibility status for newly uploaded missions instead of having to set it manually for each mission. Hoping to have this live during this weekend.

As an example, you can see one of my last missions here: http://flytrex.com/mission/quadcopter-qav500-amit-regev-5/

And you can check my profile stats: http://flytrex.com/amitregev/

We only launched the system a few days ago so not much activity *yet*, but we shipped the first batch of Flytrex Core systems to users yesterday so it should get more fun in a few days. :tennis:

I'd love to get more feedback and ideas and see how we can continue and improve it.

Cheers!

Best post so far today....

Apart from that, I like it.....trouble is: In the two links you provided in your first post it's a bit hard to figure out what the hell it is....only by scrolling down on your web-page I found this: http://flytrex.com/support/flytrex-core-manual/ which makes a bit more sense.....don't make your project look like "open-source" (it does at the moment), othewise you might keep interested people away....nothing against open-source projects, but I always hated the chaotic approach on open-source web-sites where you spend hours just to find out some basic informations.....

With the upcoming regulations in a lot of countries, I can see this as a great tool in case you have to provide evidence about your flight.....

Ok this looks pretty cool and I am seriously considering getting one. One question is do you need a failbook sorry Facebook account? I for one don't have one and won't create one just to use this product. Do you ship to Australia?

Hi Chris! :)

Again, thanks guys for all the feedback - we're trying to improve as much as possible based on the feedback we get. Since no one but our beta testers ever used it *yet*, we could really use the community feedback to optimize things. The first batch of Core boards was shipped yesterday so we should start getting more feedback in a few days from now from new users.

Regarding what you mentioned about the open-source-style-design, I totally agree we should avoid clutter and make things as user friendly as possible. I think the links I provided above have been slightly confusing since these are in-depth of the system and not the main page. Please check the main page here: http://flytrex.com - let me know if this is a bit clearer. I'd love to get feedback about design and clarity.

As for memorizing and sharing your missions - a big part of our goal was to help users measure their own personal records and use our badges system to find new challenges while flying. We've created a first set of badges you can unlock based on different achievements, you can find a full list here: http://flytrex.com/badges/

Okay so I am having a thought that I would like to have a play with one of these but I have no interest to start with to upload to the online setup, I just want to be able to review my flying to see how fast I went, how far I traveled, how high was I. Can I do that on my own PC at home?

I'm interested in Flytrex also, I'd love to see them come up with a way to send the info back in real time. Remember some time back Pleaides lost his MR with Flytrex on board and luckily some one turned it in to the police and he got it back.

The Flytrex recorded the entire flight up to the crash showing where it went down, now if that data was sent back in real time he would have known where his MR crashed.

That would make it a must have for MR's in my opinion.

I will have them in very shortly, I normally keep them but there was a rush on them and I did not get them reordered in time. If you go to my website, click on the flytrex core, just under the where it says out of stock, you can click the link and it will e-mail you when in stock. In fact I have just the one left if you want it, I was going to install it on mine but did not get around to it.

Hope by mid week they will be in, they are in the USA heading towards me right now. :)
