s800 motor play

One of my s800 motors is showing about 1mm of vertical play up the shaft, i.e when i just up the motor case by the prob.

All the other motors are tight with not play, do i need to be worried about this?

Make sure the set screws on the side of the shaft are secure. It is either a 1mm or .9mm allen wrench I believe.

I have heard of those 2 set screws coming loose and having the prop and outside magnet part of the motor take off like a single rotor heli.

This is a good thing to check every week or so, I also check every bolt on my machines once a week. It takes an hour on all the MR's, but it is piece of mind. Kind of like an annual on a full scale aircraft. Maintenance is everything.

If those allens are tight then you may have bad bearings. No matter what don't fly until you figure it out. It could be expensive.

on closer inspection today, it is around 0.5mm of travel and its coming from between the e-clip and the shim. It's as if the shim is not quite big enough.

I had this on one of my motors, I replaced the bearings and also un-done that set screw and tap the shaft up a little. This took up the slack on the shaft for me.
